I have had 2 cal-spa tubs. the first was average as far as service calls etc. and worked pretty well, the 2nd one was a nightmare. numerous leaking problems and shell bubbling.
The service from our local dealer here in Boise, ID was horrible.
I am in the market for my third spa and it will not be a Cal -Spa.

My CAL Spa Model # PE 748 L was 3 weeks old when the circulation motor went. Apparently they have had many issues with these pumps. I waited 2 months (from Nov 28, 2010 - Jan 25, 2011) for the new pump. It was installed today and we are still getting error messages and the Cal Spa IS NOT HEATING. THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING A CAL SPA!!!!!!

Pros:
Worked great for 3 weeks!

Cons:
They treat their customers like numbers. Do yourself a favour and buy another brand!!!!!!

This spa was great when it was working. Unfortunately, the Cal Spa 5 year warranty is useless. The motor/pump assembly is poorly designed and has a high failure rate. Although the warranty states this is covered for 5 years, Cal Spa does not honor their warranty. If you read the fine print, they give themselves lots of reasons to not honor the warranty regardless of whether they are true.

Pros:
Style
Comfort

Cons:
Useless Warranty
Undependable
Poorly designed pump/motor assembly

I thought I was getting the best deal on the spa I was buying. Until I starting having problems. Th first thing to go was the pump. I was down for three weeks. The worst thing was how I my wife was treated by the so called service department at the dealer. The next step was to call the manufacture to find out we didn's have a warranty through cal-spa. No factory warranty. We are at the mercy of the dealer. well, the next thing to go was the heater. The life time heater that cost me $86.94 to replace. They don't tell you that all the parts that connect to the heater are not covered.
Know for the best part they told me it would cost around $12.00 per month to operate. This was an outright lie. This spa is in the neighborhood of $30.00. per month
