My tub has become a bug cemetery
« on: August 11, 2005, 08:16:36 pm »
I dont know about anyone else, but my tub is a bug catcher.  I think the heat attracts them and kills them all at the same time.

What do I do?  I just purchased a net to help get the critters out but they are coming in boat loads.  I told them no green card, no stay.

The real bummer is when all their relatives start flying in for the funerals...

I just found a bees nest inside my spa.  Little buggers squeezed thru the tiny gap between the shell and one of the sides.  A quick spray of hornet killer and they were dropping like flies.    ;D

Anything to prevent them getting in  there in the first place?   ???

I was having problems with beetles (not the music group) and ticks and a lawn and shrub spraying did the trick pretty well. I bought the stuff that goes onto the end of the hose.

Keep pets and children off for about 24 hours to let the pesticide dissipate somewhat.

I have heard caulking the gap mentioned before, but on my spa, there is no gap I can see, just a plastic base connected to the panels.

I had a huge hornets nest up under my skirt  ;D last week!  I had to take 2 sides off and the corner panel to just be able to get spray on the nest!  Huge nest, hundreds of hornets!  It took 3 beers, a snowmobile suit and helmet, gloves etc. to get the paneling off!! And it was 90 some degrees out!

Anyway, I disabled them!

I have 5 spas full of water on my deck.  Ocassionally, I find a dead bug in them.  That's life.  There are probably more dead bugs in your house than there will be in the spa.  Relax! ;D

now Phil that must have been a site to see! I did notice at one time bees going into my vents and a nest was forming.  I pulled all my vents off and attached screening behind them and since then no problems.    I also us a pool skimmer to scoop and floating critters, grass or what ever else is on the top of the water.

Use Bounce fabric softner sheets and change them every 3 months.
Bugs hate the smell, as well as rodents.
