Towel Warmer ??
« on: November 22, 2004, 08:24:43 pm »
ok.....after you are done laughing...my wife saw somewhere online....a towel warmer. It was not one of the big $2000 models but rather a smaller, almost mini refrigerator type.
Living in the northeast, she thought it might be nice to have on those cold nights...Sept thru June...lol.
Any ideas where to start looking and any opinions on them if you have one....towel warmer that is....:)

Thanks in advance for the help.

I've heard someone here mention warming them in a dryer and keeping them in a styrofoam cooler by the tub. Can put in robes also. There is also a warmer you can put in your microwave and then the cooler to keep towels and robe warm longer. Not my idea, but seemed like a good one to pass along.

I believe Walmart has hot food bags that are sizable and made of foil.  This might work.

That's 24 facial towels, not bath towels
If you can't sell it on eBay, it may not even qualify as landfill.

I have a double cedar box with insulation between the layers and a hinged top with a nifty handle. Inside I have a 120 watt rough service light bulb in a fixture with a switch on the outside. A metal screen seperates the bulb on the bottom from the cavity on the top. It's 3x2x2 that's 3 foot long by 2 foot high by 2 foot deep. It's finished to match my deck and makes a great bench for slippin on your shoes. It holds 2 robes and 2 towels and the friends that come over to soak always get screwed.

My wife just got a Bed, Bath, and Beyond catalog that showed a towel warmer rack.  Looks like it stands maybe 3ft high, has a tube that snakes around to create a couple of levels and plugs into a 110 outlet.

So, what if you took one of these, put it into a tall rubbermade (or similar) storage cabinet, running the wire outside.  Should make a decent and portable warming cabana, no?

As I said in the last thread on this topic, I'm thinking crank the tub temp to 104, stay in 30-45 minutes and you WON'T need a warm towel!

Do you think that the towel warmer is full foam?

I think Thermopane is more likely, I doubt it could hold 24 towels if it was full foam.
