What is generally the best cover lift assist??
Easiest to use, easiest on the cover, smallest space
requirement, etc?

I would say alot depends on your space constraints, spa type, and your pyhical condition?

I would ask your dealer what lifts he/she recommends. Also try calling the manufacturer of your spa. We sell spas from three different manufacturers, and we carry two different kinds of cover lifters because of this. I know the covermate I will NOT work on Dimension One spas due to the rounded corners on D-1's spas, same goes for the Hawkeye models that we carry. We use the Covermate I on the Caldera Spas that we carry. For the Hawkeye and Dimension One spas we use the EZ-Lifter. Both work very well.

Ahhhhhhhh Jason? The covermate1 will work for all D1 spas except for the Arena, AquaFit 16 and 19 (possibly not for the Bay Collection). They make an extended bracket for radius corners over 10".

The lifts that have air springs generally make it easier to lift the lid. They also slow the motion down like a 'shock absorber' which can keep the cover from slamming down.

They also don't last forever, so you have to replace the air springs from time to tim.

The lifts that use the weight of the cover are simpler, but harder to use.

Trade-off.

Space constraints were the reason we picked the lifter we did. You can go from needing 24 inches clearance in behind the tub or as little as 6 inches. In our case we needed very little clearance as we plan on putting a lattice wall directly behind the tub.

Also, the piston lifters are VERY easy to use if that's what you are looking for. Only disadvantage to our lifter is that the whole cover is upright and none of it goes in beside the tub. It makes for a big wall on one side when it's up.

I was not made aware that there is an extension for the covermate....i learn something new everyday

And now that i think about it, the reason we don't offer the covermate I on our D-1's, would be b/c the EZ-Lifter is made by D-1......so naturally we want to appease our manufacturer, and also b/c we just started carrying the covermate I when we brought on caldera spas. Watkins uses the Covermates on most of their spas i believe, or atleast they "recomend" that they are used. sorry for the confusion.

The tub will hopefully be a BC 750.

I'll likely just take one that my dealer sells.
I wanted to make sure there was nothing I should stay away from.
