Yeah, that's considered a very large hot tub. You also may need to supplement with small doses of dichlor as well. The good news is that dichlor is cheap and we're talking a couple of teaspoons after heavy use.

So the tech has had me superchlorinate two nights running. Tonight is shock only, then going to see how it holds.
Test strip had been showing 4-5 total CL and very little free.

Sounds like you are also using the wrong test strips. Need to use the @ease ones for accurate readings

I just got the Tropic Seas Tahiti Elite which I believe is almost the same tub. (550 gals). I think I am set to 5 on smartchlor and 6 on mineral. Only been a few days but so far so good. I had water tested and added a whole bunch of chems before I put the cartridges in. Also used the start-up packet when I added the cartridges. I will keep you posted on my progress. I am expecting the smartchlor to last at least a month. I do use the @ease test strips.
