Jacuzzi "Red Tag" deals
« on: August 12, 2009, 04:55:21 pm »
I'm looking for information on Jacuzzi "Red Tag" deals.  What's that?  It's brand new spas with very minor cosmetic defects (rejected by quality control) which are bought up by dealers and sold at a discounted price.  Still carries a fully warranty, etc.

Jacuzzi Jim..... what kind of discounts are reasonable?  Do most dealers pick these up?  What's your thoughts on it?  (I welcome everyone else's thoughts too!  :)

We have thought about it but never done it.  Most red tags from what I understand are very minor blems, but blems still the same. Chances there would be any issues are probably slim to none.

As far as warrantys not sure either, I would imagine equipment would still be covered 5 years, same with plumbing.  Shell with a blem doubt it would have a full 10 year specially from Jacuzzi a dealer might cover it, but would not get anything  as far as support from Jacuzzi.

Pricing would be up to the dealer and would depend what cost was. I dont think these are huge money makers for dealers but more to just catch attention to a possible buyer.

Thing to do would be check prices of a normal spa against what they are selling a blem for.  Personally I think a blem spa would be fine but you wouldn't know how bad it was till you see it.  If I remember right on the blem list of spas it describes what and where exactly it is on the spa.

FWIW that list is pretty short and spas get snatched up pretty quick.

So I bought a new J-470 this morning.   ;D   It's a 2009 with the new JBL aquasound stereo.  Colors are opal acrylic with silverwood skirting.

Jacuzzi Jim, thanks for your input on the red tags....I did decide to go with one, saved about $2000 (more than enough to pay for the stereo).

Pathfinder, Christian at Spaworks says hi..... you're right, they are great people to deal with (my first choice was a Sundance Optima, but I'm buying the Jacuzzi because of the strong dealer and slightly better pricing).

Thanks everyone for your comments, this forum has been a great source of info.  I look forward to contributing my experiences here in the future.

Looks great!  I love the look of the new Jacuzzis with the elevated wall.
