Title: heater housing

i have a leak at the heater housing do i need to drain the tub to fix it

There is no easy answer to that question.  Different spas and packs are built differently.   If you have ball valves or slice valves in the right place no draining.  If you can quickly stop the flow with plugs of some sort, no draining.  That is a couple of scenarios.

Maybe you should hire a pro who knows the answers to your questions just by looking at your equipment.

I think you have a Sundance.  If yours is like mine, then it's not necessary to drain the spa to remove and replace the heater.
 You'd have to pinch off the hoses somehow though.  
But if you really don't know the answers to some of these questions, it really may be better in the long run to have a pro do the work for you.
