Title: Just bought a Hotsprings Grandee!!!
Post by: dunerunner25 on February 21, 2007, 01:10:51 am
Just thought I would let everyone know that I am the official owner of a 2007 Hotsprings Grandee.  I just bought it yesterday and should be in by Friday.  It has the espresso wood on the outside and Pearl on the inside of the tub.  I wet tested it and fell in love!!!!  Thanks to all who helped me get to my final decision... You guys ROCK!!! 8-)

That is great!!  The Grandee is an awesome spa.  I have its little sister, the Vanguard and love it.  I'm sure you'll get a lot of great use out of the Grandee.

I have been calling the Vanguard the little brother to the Grandee. All this time I never noticed it was a girl.

I'm sorry to any I have offended, I will try to be more sensitive on this matter.

Congratulations on the Grandee! I am waiting for my '06 to be delivered off the showroom floor so I can see the new '07 with the Bella Fountana (cool fountain thingy).

I have a ten-year-old Grandee in my backyard - I have a potential buyer for it and I think I'll go with the new Grandee. It has been my favorite for years, and I have had several, though the Aria is lookin' pretty nice.

Plus, I have an Aria floor model that I need to sell.

I got it in Moreno Vally store.  They had a good deal. It helped that my dad bought a Vanguard at the same time.  2 for 1 worked out sweet.  Cant wait to see that espresso and pearl :o

I'm surprised that more people haven't offered you a hearty congratulation.  Why, just the other day, someone was complaining about the number of congratulations a new spa owner received.  I want it stated in the record that I don't believe you have received a sufficient congratulatory quota, especially from morecowbell and RobRoy.

Congratulations!

Working on my trenches for my electical right now.  I have dug for the last four hours.  Just thinking of the first soak is keeping me motivated.  I have about 80 ft of trench to dig and I have about 85% done.  Electrician comes in on Friday.  Ill be ready for him.  Pour at the begining of the week. First soak next weekend...MAYBE!!! ;)

Oh cool - I totally dig,

uh,

trenches.

Hmm...

Now - I don't want to spoil anything or slow down that first soak, but if you pour concrete later in the week, you may want to wait a week before you fill the tub.

I have found that setting the tub (empty) on concrete as young as three days is fine, you usually will not leave scars or scrape marks. But you really don't want to fill too soon.

One of the concrete contractors I work with says two weeks, but I think it is cruel and unusual punishment to wait that long.

Something to think about.

So how deep do you have to dig the trench for the electrical? Also did the electrician tell you exactly how close to your house, etc you have to dig the trench? Reason I'm asking is that I'll have to dig a trench this spring for electrical and I'm curious as to the specs. I would much rather digg it myself than pay an electrician to do the digging.

Hey thanks for the heads up Chaz!!!!
Trench has to be 16 in. deep for spec.  I have had minimal problems with rocks and so forth so I have been able to dig to this depth.  Tree roots are a problem though... I feel like the Tin man.  Make sure to have a good pick and axe if you are going to dig.  Having it finished will be well worth it.  I am supost to run line tomorrow but it might rain... we will see.  Happy thoughts.

depending on how far your run is, it might be worth it to rent a ditch witch from a place like Cresco. You can usually rent one for around 100-150 bucks for the day from any tool rental place and it will save your back. Plus it goes through roots like a hot knife through butter.

I did all my own electrical ( 100 foot run of 4 wire, 220v), including tieing into my main panel for my spa and when i was done my back hurt so much that I needed the spa. it made for a great first soak though.

Plus my wallet was about 1200 bucks heavier since I did not have a pay an electrician

Hard core tile setters who don't wear knee pads, don't look so cool when they're older.

You can't put a price on your health and well being. If you don't take care of your body now, chances are a doctor will be in the future.

Just ran the 220 lines and setting the forms for the concrete today.  I will give the concrete at least 5 days to set then bring in the spa.  Hey by the way how do you post pictures on the site? I have tried to right click and paste but it won't work?

You have to post the pictures on another web site, and then provide a link. Like this:

Hit the Quote button to see all the html tags I used to create this post.

You have to first place it on a host site and then link it from there.

Many people use the http://photobucket.com site to host their pictures and then link the image here.

Any tips on keeping a big spa clean Chaz?? Dichlor add... Pre and Post soak??
Title: Re: Just bought a Hotsprings Grandee!!!
Post by: Chas on February 27, 2007, 12:47:58 am
Well, I like using Dichlor. Since the spa will have ozone and Silver Ion cartridge, you can use MPS and soak chlorine free, but you will want to do a chlorine shock every couple of weeks or at least once per month.

You may find that using a small amount of Dichlor after each soak is better in the long run - if you do it right it will be gone when you next use the tub. If you remember to run the jets with the lid open after adding Dichlor, you should have no real odor.

And it's cheaper than MPS> and it gives you less TDS.

I also like Brilliance (Bromine).

I thought about going with the marble finish also... it was a toss up.  My wife wanted the pearl so... you know.  It is going to be very rich in color.  It wont have any gray in the tub which is a plus for my set up.  Cant wait to see it at night. Pouring concrete right now.

Finally got my Grandee missing the stairs and the wright cover. I got a reverse cover so it flips toward the back of the spa instead of to the side.  It sure is nice…defiantly “Spa Topia”!!! Installation went well, no problems just plugged in and fired it up. Doing the back yard area around it in a Japanese Garden type of theme.  Got a lot of work to do but it will be worth it.   I will post some pics when I get my steps and cover.  My dealer said it will take a week to get my stairs. Pearl and Espresso is gorgeous.  WOW WHAT A SPA!!     8-)
