Title: Water Change

Do smaller tubs have to dump and fill more often than bigger tubs?  Our tub is only 225 gallons and we're at about the 3 1/2 month mark with our water, which got me to thinking that it would make sense for larger tubs to be able to last longer due to more water.  Does this sound right or doesn't it matter due to TDS's being proportionately equal?   :-?

You are right- less water means more frequent water changes, all other things being equal. There is a formula for estimating water change frequency, but you'll have to get that from one of the more detail-oriented members!

I don't know for sure but I would think that size doesn't matter. The more gallons your tub has the more chems it uses. I think it's a wash.

I think the formula you are refering to ANNE is 1/3 of your tubs gallons / average daily bather load = days until a refill.
Taylor has a more detailed one.
I personally go by TDS and CYA.

uh, if gallons are in the formula, then in this case, size DOES matter..... ;)

I'll also add that last night when I opened up the tub, I had the beginnings of a cess (sp?) pool.   I hit it with 6-7 teaspoons of dichlor and it has mostly cleared up.  I just checked it and I have no chlorine registering on the test strip.  Does that mean I didn't give it enough dichlor last night?

I think that means that you still have chlorine demand. That was a lot of ick you sucked up!
