All I could think of was how much dirt their feet were dragging back into the tub.....anyone use a foot rinse tub infront of their hot tub or is that silly. (OK...I know in the middle of the winter this would not be feasable)

dirthead.....thats exactly what I was thinking.

i bet the guy doing that was not the owner.

soaking non-owners rarely think of such.

Not sure why anyone thinks it's silly; the hot-cold cycle is common in sauna in Scandinavia and one of my favorite memories of Norway is coming out from the sauna to have a bevy of girls douse me with glacier-fed river water.  It takes your breath away, but it wakes up every cell in your skin!  Definitely not for the weak of heart.

Friends of ours years ago had a rustic wood-fired sauna on their Alberta acreage, and we would come out of the sauna and have a cold splash in the creek in summer or scrub each other with snow in winter, then go back into the sauna.  We'd repeat this several times and end feeling enervated but thoroughly wonderful.

Years later, we carried this over to the hot tub--  roll in the snow (rather than just lay on hardpack as in the video) then come back to the tub.  Highly invigorating.  With snow right up to the side of the tub, we didn't track too much stuff in, but in spring a footbath was necessary to keep out pine needles, leaves, and grass (no dirt where we had our tub).
