The contest was "30 reasons  why you should win a new hot tub"  Hosted by Caldera for thier 30th aniversay.

My Tiger River will probably be going to a famlly member who could really use a tub. I need to discuss the details with my wife and familly.

So now that you have won lets see your list of 30 reasons why you deserve this great prize ::)
Title: Re: YAHOOOOOO!!!!!!
Post by: drewstar on January 30, 2007, 03:07:32 pm
1)  I’m the reason there are organizations such as The American Institute of Stress.

2)  I already told my wife I'd won.

3) The local Caldera Dealer is sick and tired of me and my wife showing up every night at 7:30 in our bathing suits for “just one more test soak”.  He is beginning to get suspicious.

4) My neighbor has one. According to Universal Man Code, I too must possess one.

5) My wife tells me if she’s catches me one more time  in the bath tub  with her Mix Master trying to create my own “Caldera Experience” she’s gonna leave me.

6)  I already halfway there. Out in the garage, I’ve got 450 water jugs filled up ready to go. The neighbors are beginning to talk.

7) My swimming pool is getting lonely. So very lonely.

8) Despite my unique financing suggestion, the local Caldera dealer won’t sell me a Caldera tub in exchange for a big hug, a box of donuts and some old vacation photos I found in the attic.

9) Hey, I even offered to perform a highly entertaining “interpretive hot tub dance routine” but the dealer is pretty much set on some sort of “money for hot tub” deal. I can sing too.

10) Having broken everything else around the home, I figure it’s high time I see what kind of damage I can do to your product.

11) I can fill it with beer, right?

12) What about vodka?

13) I keep trying to talk my neighbor into getting a “neighborhood hot tub”. I’ve left him dozens of your brochures with little notes taped to his front door.   So far, he ain't buying it.  In fact, I think he’s avoiding me. He refuses to make eye contact with me, and runs into the house every time I come out. Go figure.

14) They have one at the local health club. However they have some funny rule wearing a bathing suit. Let me tell you, they’re pretty strict about it too.

15) Ever since what has become known as the embarrassing (and controversial) “Town Square Water Fountain Incident of ‘97”, local authorities have strongly suggested I purchase my own, “real” hot tub.

16) I won’t even mention the whole “Koi pond” thing. It wasn’t pretty.  Let me just tell you goldfish don’t thrive in 103 degree water.

17) My make my own hot tub project didn’t work out as I envisioned. Hey, do you guys need an old bath tub, 175 feet of garden hose and 37 slightly used Water Pic massagers?

18) I have 35 rubber duckies.  Help me.

19) I’ve seen the hot tub ads. Everyone in them look so nice and beautiful. Trust me; I really would like to look like that. Let’s start with getting a hot tub.

20) I’ve told my in-laws I was rich. (I lied.)

21) If those pushy spa salespeople on TV call me one more time, I’m going to scream.

22) Because the no-name hot tub I bought on the internet turned out to be made from old refrigerator boxes and duct tape.  It had a family of angry raccoons living in it.

23) Someday I hope to be rich famous. Big fancy-smancy companies like yours are going to be begging me to endorse their product. I’m offering you a chance to get in on the ground floor and be my friend now.  Trust me. This free hot tub thing could really seal the deal.

24) I plan on entering the highly competitive world of “Professional Hot Tubing” Will you sponsor me?

25) I’ll name my first born “Caldera” (or “Calderiaesa-Anna Maria-Lucille” if it’s a girl. Pretty, huh?)

26) Your “ocean wave opal” shell matches my wife’s eyes.

27) I am sexually aroused by the smell of ozone and dichlor.

28)  My wife found a stack of hot tub model brochures under the bed and I need a really, really good excuse. FAST!

29) Is it possible to have “too much fun in a Caldera tub?”  Let’s find out.

30) Through Caldera’s advanced engineering, custom hydrotherapy and easy to use controls, I plan on spreading world peace….Starting right in my backyard.

I honestly wonder how many entries spa companies receive for these contests. Probably much better odds than other contests that are known about by a larger audience.

Actually as Wm said, I found it harder than first imagined to come up with 30 reasons.

Way to go Drew!!!I am so happy for you..I think you should keep your old tub (after all it is part of your family) and let your friends party in it ...have the new tub for a selected few ...(you and your wife).
Guess we'll be seeing the real you ...in a Caldera add or two!

ANd I thought my hubby was lucky, he won an ipod shuffle at work and a Nano from Boars Head Lunch Meats! But you are by far the luckiest....and cleverest (if that is a word).  [smiley=beer.gif]

Uh oh.

The rules clearly say that you must need a spa.

If you already have a spa, then you don't need a spa.

Sorry, we'll have to disqualify you and give the spa to the dealer who discovered this error -

me.

I am working out all the details still.   I am told I can take delivery any time in 07.  since the ground is frozen, and I want to enlarge my paved area for the tub,  I am thinking I will try and set it all up for Spring (April - May).  I am going to go with the Silver with Coastal Grey cabinet.  :)

I am also trying to figure out Taxes (yes, I will pay about 33% of the MSRP) and need to identify exactly what's included and whats not, ( I  am not sure if steps and a lifter are included)  and I need to identify any  electrical changs I will need to make,  and of course getting the Caspian moved. I am sure over the next few weeks I'll get it all worked out with Caldera and the local dealer, but I don't see myself soaking in the Geneva until May.

The List price for the Geneva that Caldera will put on the 1099 IRS form  :P  is $10100.00.  I'm thinking it's actuall sselling price  is more in the mid to high 8's.   ???? Chas should be able to give us a range.

I should have said on pleasure rather than on purpose.  I've spent a lot of time up there on business.  I only have two negative things to say about it, and they are about Boston.

1. Boston is the worst town to drive in, I'll take Chicago or NY anyday.

2. Boston Radio Traffic reporters have their own names for streets and it is secret information from visitors.    I was there once and their was a hazardous chemical spill on "The Van Ryan"  Try finding the Van Ryan on any Hertz map.

That is true. And amazingly, we take great pride in the fact it's a nightmare. Go figure.   A few years ago a local TV station did a report on all the mis labled signs. it was amazing. half the street signs giving directions (Rt 90, next right" ect) were wrong.

As far as roads go, yup.   And if you really want to get confused, drive rt 128, which is actually 93 south, but 95 north, unless you're on the south shore, then it's 95 North, 93 South, but you're actually still on Rt 128. ;D YOu may also want to stay away from the tunnel.  ::)

Ahh, the Calahan and Sumner tunnels.  I have three memories of them.

My first time in Boston, I flew into NY Laguardia for a "in and out" trip.  No baggage, and no cash, did everthing with credit card.  Ended up in Nashua and drove back to Boston, came through the tunnel and saw the toll booths (back then they had them inbound)  I went to the automated exact change booth, blew through it and dumped the car at Hertz and ran to my plane.

2nd time I had rented a brand new Pontiac Firebird (I think this was '84)  It had a 4 cylinder and wouldn't idle with the AC on. It was Sept and 95F and I was in a jam in that tunnel.

Third time was coming in eastbound on the Mass Pike (90) and trying to merge across 5 lanes to get to the tunnel exit. (Term's 50 cal should be required.)

Oh those are great compared to the new harbor tunnel (The Big Dig) where the ceiling comes crashing down. :P

I think drewstar may be referring to the "new" Ted Williams Tunnel that we from the South Shore take.  Thats the tunnel that had the ceiling panel fell on a car resulting in a fatality.

I'm only about twenty miles outside of Boston and I don't know what the Van Ryan is.

Is the Van Ryan Chicago?  Whatever the name of the highway going N-S (95 or 93?) The locals had a name for it other than the obvious I-number.

I-93 through the city was called the Central Artery when it was elevated.  Now it is underground and officially named the Thomas "Tip" O'Neil Tunnel.

95, 93  runs with 128.so you depending on where you are you could be only any one of those.  Usually  93 is refered to "the expressway"

Rt 90  (east west) is called "the Mass Pike" or "the Pike"

Storrow and Memorial drive are refered to as "The River Roads"

I would think a road with that name would have a lot of bars on it.
