Title: Power outages
Post by: Chad on January 14, 2007, 02:20:46 am
We've been experiencing another ice storm here in St. Louis. Although thus far it's not as bad as the first one we got this winter, I actually lost power for a little over five hours this time. The power came back on during that time twice for a couple minutes but kept going out again. It's been on now for about 2 hrs and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I turned my tub to 104(the highest it goes, I usually keep it at 102), in preperation for another outage.

Anyways, In that 5+ hr outage my tub only lost 1(!) degree. It's been between 29 and 31 degrees. I'm very happy with my results. Go full foam go!!!
Btw, I have a J-345. :D

Here are some pics of my coverlfter coated in about 3/8'' of ice. It's not bad getting the ice off my cover but it's a real pita getting this off.

In this pic you can get a great sense of how "on top" of me my neighbors are. :o The fence is just high enough to block their veiw while in the tub. Thanks to some pretty good calculations on my part during installation. (I put it up before I had the spa) :D

I went to Wash U back in the 70's.  I remember 70 degree days back in January and February.  Hope you have a couple of these soon!

During a storm where power outages are likely, is it best to turn the tub off at the breaker before you lose power for fear of somehow damaging the tub's control panel?

No don't worry about the tub it will be fine. Worry about an ice encrusted tree falling on your house, or car, or head!!
