Well, after some constructive criticism of my homemade steps when I posted a pic of them in the Deck 'n' tub Tales thread, I decided to do a more proper job. In the first set I made, I grosely mis-measured creating a set of steps more fit for the Jolly Green Giant. In case you don't recall, here is the picture I posted of the first set of steps:

The new set of steps are based off of the plans I found in a Popular Mechanics (well, on their website at least). The old steps were 34" tall x 24" wide. The new steps are 20" high x 30" wide.

I wanted to stain the steps a grey that would match the cabinet, but what they mixed up at the hardware store is WAY too much on the green side. I think I'm going to resand them, and just stain a dark walnut color. I was a little more creative with this set of steps and added a hinged lid so I can store chemicals in them.

In conclusion, even though my last set of homemade steps didn't make the best hot tub steps....

... at least they made a good fire. ;D

Nice job!
I wish I had the time and the inclination to build a new set of steps for my tub.
Maybe some day.

Steps look great! 8-) Good idea making it a storage bin as well. 8-)
What year is your Viper? It looks like a RT/10. I have a 350Z that would eat your Viper's dust. :(

Thanks for the kind comments everyone.
WHY NOT - The Viper is a Gen I 1994 RT/10. I got a decent price on it because it was an ex-company lease vehicle. I'd like to know what company buys a new Viper as a lease vehicle.

Must have been an ex-hot tub dealer's. Those guys make all the money. ;)
