I'm curious what people wear on the walk out to the tub, and if anyone has some good recommendations. In warmer times, it's just my towel for me, but now that it's getting colder that walk is a *lot* harder to do unclothed. I asked for some fluffy terrycloth robes with hoods for Christmas as I think they'd be ideal, but they are fairly pricey, especially for heavier weight ones. http://www.thirstytowels.com/Catalog/Bathrobes/Hooded_Bathrobe_Luxury_Line.htm
Suggestions?

You can get nice, warm robes at places like Dillards, JC Penney, etc for ~$50.
How long is your walk to the tub?
-
Yes, I robe is the way to go for me. I've never had used a towel since getting a nice thick robe.
-
My dealer has real nice heavy weight robes 2 for $60.00. I personally wear one to take the cover off and put it back on, but run to and from the tub with only my trunks on. That is unless I am feeling risque in which case I run to an from in the buff........

Nada.. unless super cold then the towel 1/2 way. I had to move the towel rack. Lighting one time while in the tub made me feel a bit uncomfortable having a metal towel rack right next to it.
-
Robe.

I bought nice heavy robes, and now have a second set compliments of Arctic. They are so thick! I use one all the time, especially with the "cold" weather (ie, less than 55 deg!!)

Sweats and a sweatshirt. This way I can slip off the sweat pants and walk into the tub then take of the sweatshirt.

Nada. Since I am usually in the tub by myself I wear nothing. I positioned the tub on my deck off of the bedroom and knocked a hole in the wall and built a door. All I do is open the door, take two steps and I'm in.

t shirt and swimmpants

Just the robe.
-
I got out in just my suit, and run like hell.
-
anne, that cold weather in california must be so hard to deal with ;D
-
I go just my suit- even in winter. I take a towel down with me, but don't use it on the way out to the spa.
Mrs. B. uses a robe both going to the spa and returning.
-
Go out with the towel wrapped around me. Drop the towel. Enter tub. Exit tub, grab towel, dash to house. Grab warmed robe out of dryer......AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
(PS....let hubby deal with closing the tub).

Bathing suit, and towel for when I get out. Just a few steps to the door.
-
I soak au natural. I have some towel and robe racks inside the door when I enter the house. I towel off and toss on a robe. :)
-
Thong and a light coat of oil.
-
Skinny dip soak. Robe from Land's End for travel to and from tub.

Yeah, we got it bad, but us Californians are tough! ;D

I feel like I am in California with the weather we are having, I am use to being below zero at this time of year. today it is 10 which is approx 52 for you americans. I want to go out and lay in the sun.

I use Craphead, the family dog. He's always warm and fluffy.

I gotta go with the wife.

Since I prefer to soak in the buff I usually wear just a towel since it is a short walk from the house to the tub. Mrs. B on the other hand prefers her robe from Lands End. :)
-
Poor Craphead........... :-? ;D

Oh, that was funny Term. I just spit out my beer. Luckily, it wasn't a Shiner Bock. I was drinking a Stone Arrogant Bastard.

Thong and a light coat of oil.
Let's not go there!
Currently beach towel; after Christmas, heavy terrycloth robe. After all, this is Chicago and it is winter (almost).
-
I found terycloth robes at Macys for $35 this week. They also has a printable coupon http://www.macys.com/dyn_img/site_ads/121206_mw_sp_BestGift.pdf?PartnerID=email until 12/14 for an additional 20% off. This should be a perfect addition to the hot tub routine.
-
Sounds like robes are a good option :) My tub is only 5 feet from the door, but opening, chems, closing, etc., I'd just rather have something on when the snow is piled up!
-
Nada in the tub, a Lands End full length robe for the to and from. On real cold nights, we carry a small cooler with dryer warmed towels out with us. Climb out, grab a nice warm towel then jump in the robe to close the cover etc.
-
Linens N Things has a nice, thick Turkish cotton robe with a hood, which is good especially getting to the tub in the Winter as most heat escapes through the head.
-
Since I am basically lazy, I am a minimalist. My choices are based upon what will be the easiest and create the least amount of effort in doing laundry!
I prefer a beach towel in mild weather and a heavy terry cloth robe in winter.
Because the terry cloth robe is so absorbant there is no need for a towel.
Trixie soaks butt-naked then grabs a terry cloth robe to run into the house.
It is warmer to go butt-naked under the terry cloth robe, because a wet swim suit quickly gets very cold once out of the tub.
I don't know if I'm a cheap ass, or brilliant, but I went to the thrift store and purchased 4 heavy terry cloth robes for $5.00 each!
All you have to do is wash them as soon as you get home and they are clean!
You can't beat that with a stick!

Used clothing? I don't think so, unless I was desparate. For $25, my wife bought me a brand new sharp Nautica (navy blue with white trim) heavy duty terrycloth robe from Costco. What a deal!
-
I wear a heavy white terry robe to unfasten the top. Then back inside, and rush out the door au natural, as my tub is about 6 feet from the door. After the soak I can get the cover back on in about 20 seconds, and unless it is below zero, I do it in the buff. I dont know what I will do when it gets really cold out. Probably redress and then put the top back on and add the chems.

And I thought in Texas only the sheep were nervous, looks like family pets need to worry now.

You crack me up...."used clothes...unless I was desparate"? Hmmm, you are revealing much about yourself with that statement. Why must you be rude to me... to edify yourself?
It just so happens that buying at our local Salvation Army supports programs that re-introduce people to the work force. These less fortunate people are employed by the Salvation Army and are taught a trade such as upholstering furniture.
The clothes are reconditioned and furniture is reupholstered for sale. I can't say that for all thrift stores, but this one is doing great things. I donate all that I can, and make purchases there, because I believe in what they are doing.
Many local businesses donate new articles such as upholstering fabric and discontinued furniture to this store to help the cause.
I also work as a volunteer at this Salvation Army shelter.
You might try volunteering at a non-for profit orginization, it might introduce you to some much needed humility.
Because I soak 3 to 4 times per day, I use 3 to 4 robes per day.
Since you are sooooo interested in LABELS, you might like to know that two of the four robes I bought were new with store tags hanging. I found a (NEW) Ralph Lauren terry cloth robe and a (New) Gap terry cloth robe at this thrift store.
The other two robes looked good, but had no tags. Even though they had been laundered prior to being sold, I just laundered them again to be safe. It's a process done with a washer and dryer, maybe you've heard of it.

Didn't mean to offend Bama; not at all. In fact, I tithe at church, give more to other not-for-profits, and have donated some land that has been in our family in order to build a Christian camp. So don't misunderstand my post. I just am very uncomfortable in wearing other peoples' clothes. Maybe it's my phobia but what I think you are doing is wonderful. Enough said? ::)

Hugs and kisses to ya Wesj53! We're good.

Great idea, I should hit the local Goodwill and see if there are any deals on new(ish) robes....those suckers can be EXPENSIVE!!!!! Only problem being, the Geriatric Crowd seems to do almost all their bargain hunting there, leaving a whole lotta nuthin' for us youngins..... >:(
-
Tatooted,
I got a kick out of getting 4 robes for $20! And that is good for me since I loathe shopping. My favorite robe is an extra long one, originally from Sears. LOL
All are thick and great condition! Just like I like my........robes! ;)
-
Bama, sounds like you got a great deal. I was an avid shopper and donator of the SPCA thrift shop when I was in college, and sadly, I let that habit go with time. I would not have thought of looking for robes there, but that was smart on your part. I paid sort of top dollar for two of our robes, but that was because I was shopping in may. Now I look around and there are deals everywhere. Are heavy robes just a winter thing???? So for anyone thinking of shopping for robes, do it now, not in the spring!

Anne,
My passion is doggies!!! People like you who love and help animals is a hero in my book. So, you see...you are a hero!
I work with canine rescues in the Southeastern US. When a dog is nearly starved to death by some idiot owner or has been left to fend for himself, I'm the one they call to help bring it back to health. (that is after everything has been done medically).
To answer your question...
yes, terry cloth robes are pretty much seasonal. I found mine at the thrift store during the summer when the major stores weren't carrying them yet.
