After hot tubbing at nite, im so relaxed I just want to go to bed. Wife insists I hop in the shower first. My question....is she being picky?
-
The question is, why is she asking you to shower? Does she think you smell like chems? Or is it just the principal of the matter? I actually feel quite clean when I get out of my tub, and I always soak in 0ppm dichlor (and darn near zero CC) so there's no smell. It's straight from the tub to bed for me!

Is she being picky?
It depends on what happens after the shower!!

No showers here either! We soak in little to no dichlor as well, so we just call it a day.
Same thing with my neighbor's swimming pools in the summer--I figure that the chlorine sanitizes the kids. ;D
If it were VERY chlorinated (spa or pool), then we might consider a rinse-off, but we do not have sensitive skin. No one in my household likes to do anything extra that they don't have to.

What are you referring to when you say CC? :-?
-
I don't shower after a soak at night but I live alone.
I have never really thought about it, but I don't
recall feeling dirty or chem smelling after a soak.
Although I do remember my swim trunks smelling
a bit like spa chems, but after taking the suit off
and drying....I never noticed anything.
If I was married I think if it bothered my wife I would
shower after the soak.....but thats easy for me to say
because one of the highlights of my day is the shower.

Combined Chlorine -- what's left after the Free Chlorine (FC, in the form of dichlor) is added to the tub and shortly thereafter kills all the cooties. Combined chlorine (aka chloramines) is what's left after the killing spree, and is what eventually causes that "chlorine smell" and eye/skin irritation. To get rid of CC, you need to oxidize with some short of "shock", usually MPS or sometimes a super-dose of dichlor.
Sorry, didn't mean to fillibuster... :)

Oh. I know all about combined chlorine but for some reason I didnt identify CC with your comment. I guess in my brain it sounded like something you normally added to the spa but barely put any in when you soak.
-
I don't shower afterward, but my hubby does. His skin seems to have become sensitive to the chems since the weather got colder. We're hoping it's just because his skin is a bit drier with the colder weather.

Rarely do I shower afterwords. I add the scent to the water so after tubbing I like the way I feel and smell. My local HS dealer has some of the best that doesn't mess up the water.

no strate to bed

What kind? I haven't tried any yet but would like to sometime.
Thanks!

funny you ask, when I get out of the tub I can go right to sleep, however, sometimes, my head gets so bloody itchy that I feel the need to shower and use some conditioner because my scalp dries out so much from the chems. but usually im lazy and crash
-
Never thought about taking a shower after the tub. Just like most folks here, I'm soaking in virtually no chlorine. Does your water smell bad?
-
Hot tub at night= just go to bed, relaxed and warm
Hot tub in the morning= shower just as part of the normal start of the day.
-
We might shower before stepping into the tub but not afterwards.

Its called Canadian Club. Wait that goes in the soaker.

No shower. Just get out and dry off. Why shower if your water is clean?

Hot tub makes me perspire. Ok, everything makes me perspire. Having said that DW and I always shower after a soak. We are still nice and relaxed and actually the shower just prolongs the warm, relaxed feeling.
