I donated blood today, and every time, you get the same list of things to do after donating. Along with the standard "drink lots of fluids and make sure to eat a good meal" you get "avoid hot tubs, *jacuzzis* and saunas." It is even in their printed material. This was my 35th donation, and I've never noticed until today.
Luckily it is raining pretty hard, as I really dont feel like avoiding my hot tub right now. :-[

I wonder why they point out one brand. Anne, are they refferring to bath tub style??
-
No, I think it is that the general public just thinks of Jacuzzi as synonymous for hot tub. It is not recognized as a brand. That is probably good and bad for Jacuzzi: the name is everywhere and everyone knows what a jacuzzi is, even reporters on fatal drownings!

Anne,
Good for you as a blood donator. I have no idea how many times I have donated. No sky diving or bungee jumping either.
From Meriam-Webster onliine:
Main Entry: Ja·cuz·zi
Pronunciation: j&-'kü-zE
Function: trademark
-- used for a whirlpool bath and a recreational bathing tub or pool

If you spent more than several months in Europe, even if it was years ago, you cannot donate. That was a change made about 3 years ago, with the mad cow disease scare. My "donating buddy" had to quit because as a kid he lived in Britain.
So its not that they dont like you, they just dont like your blood!
