My bargain tub has a couple of issues. The jet pressure is low and it surges. It seems like I have a large air lock. I tried clearing it by setting the valves to the 3 o' clock pos and running the jets but that didn't clear it. Also how can you tell if the ozonator is working? I ran vinegar through it but I don't have an indication light on the control panel. I could really use some help on the jet situation.

Describe your filling procedure. Do you have an owner's manual?

Couple things to check:
1) Make sure water level is high enough. To the base of the pillows.
2) Make sure the floating wier door is not jammed in the raised position.
3) Make sure the filters are clean. If they are calcified, not enough water is getting to the pumps.
4) It's rare to have an air lock on your main pumps, more common on the circ pump. Usually it is something very simple such as 1-3, but on occassion it could be voltage drop causing the surging... Good luck.

The water level is the center of the tile.
Floating door not jammed
Filters are brand new
I fill with the hose in the gray filter tube
I have the manual
I followed the manual for removing the air lock by setting the diverters to 3 o'clock and running the pums with air valves open. With the pumps on I can hear what I think would be a air lock type situation (a loud pump and surge). The moto massage does not even move.

Ok I think I found the problem. Now I just need to know what it is. In the equipment compartment on the right side up high there is a black
"T". It has two 1 inch clear pvc pipes clamped to it. On the far end of the "T" there is a 3/8" tube with a diaphram on it and there is a slide in clip holding it together. The clamp and the bottom of the T on that end are broken. If I hold the pieces together the surging stops almost immediately. I don't think the moto jets move yet though. Can someone tell me what this part is?

The one thing I can say about Hot Spring tubs, The dealers are knowledgable and spare parts are so far in stock. I just talked to the local dealer he has the part in stock. It is a newer version and is called a Hartford loop. I'll pick it up on the way home. Now I just have to get the moto massage to work. Gotta love soaking ;D

One thing I've noticed on many of the used/older HS tubs is that the moto massage jets frequently do not work.

Is there any way to fix the moto other than replacing the snake part or wharever they call it?

Are you sure you have the diverters and air valves turned so that you have water and air going through it? If that's the case and it really is in need of a change it's a 5 minute job that you can do without need of service so the dealer can help explain when you get the part.

The valve is in the 3 o'clock position and the air is on. If I can do it full of water I'll give it a shot.

ok picked up the part and installed it. What a difference. This is an awesome tub. The jets were really weak and I was a little disappointed. But since I put in the part they are right on the money. It even fixed the moto massage jets. ;D way cool

It sounds like your pump was sucking air previously. Glad to hear it was an easy fix. you are now a qualified spa technician. Send me $20 and I'll send you as certificate.

you need to replace the black t thing with what's called a "hartford loop." It's a Htospring retro kit for that year spa. It will for sure fix your surging jet issue. We sell em' and will ship one if you can't get it.
Sorry, got excited and didn't read all the posts.
