I need advice on this one.. Have looked high and low for a three person spa,, and the local Dealers noway wanting wet test. and Price is in $6500.oo range. looking at a Eclips 2005 . dealer quotes me from the 2006 price sheet. turned me off,, . can buy same model off the net, factory direct for $3900.oo so Iam really leaning toward this, , sure is a saveing. I have a limited space on screen porch 80"x12'. Have too many black widows spiders out in yard to go there.. and the dealers model has no ozonator, or cir pump,on the 2005 model Eclips, Most our locals dealer can order small tubs just not in stock. hate to buy and not see if it fits and anyone can give me any advice on a three person spa. That has worked for you....thank you

Take a look at the Hot Springs Jetsetter. I believe Bullfrog makes a nice 3 person spa as well.
IMO don't buy a tub off of the Net and never buy a tub without a wet test. If a dealer won't let you wet test then walk away. My dealer literally won't let anyone buy a tub without a wet test!
-
Look at the Arctic Fox, the Sundance Capri, the Coleman 351, the Hot Springs Jetsetter, the Artesian Santa Cruz, and the Dimension One Triad. Wet testing those should keep you busy for a while. Good luck.
-
I have a Jetsetter on my backporch due to the limited width of my doors (30") and I just love it. Fits 3 just fine ( 4 people ....if you are close friends). ;D

thanks looks like I got so more searching to do now. Looked at the jettsetter, Not in show room, Really looking for the leg jets on a lounge. some model mentioned I have not heard of will search dealer .still no way to talk sales in this area into wet testing model, they have one big tubs and say try this one /it has all the jets. was at sundance today and what the sales girl told us. still looking. wife is ready to buy anthing that look like a hot tub. she not much on shopping for cars or tubs.I found out ,,, thanks for your thoughts....

wes good call on the arctic fox. I was just about to recommend that one to MACK. I think this is a great tub, it comes with two deep therapy seats and a lounger with a wrap around bench. Take a look, it is really nice.

Your writing style sure presents a challenge to us readers but I think you now want a lounger with leg jets. With that info, I would strongly suggest you find an Artesian dealer and look at the Santa Cruz. Built for 3, it includes a lounger with a bunch of back jets and 4 for legs and 4 for feet (2 for shorter folks; 2 for taller). It also has 2 other seats with large rotational type jets. It looks good to me and I bet you would like the price too! Artesian seems to be a good reliable brand with few complaints and at reasonable prices.
-
WESj53 you hit it on the mark, looked at all the suggestions, and the Artesian, Santa cruz looks very good to us . and a dealer within seven miles. hoping the price is in my reach. Not sure how I missed a dealer that close. only a one road county. OH well . thanks to all for the speedy reply. Has made my night on the computor fruit full I hope. Will keep all posted how my seach goes....the leg jet is very important.
-
Hot Spring has two options. One is the Jetsetter previously mentioned and the other is the Solana SX. The Solana is a great little 3 person spa and is at a great price point. It does not have a lounger, just upright seats, but it does have calf jets on one of the seats. Go to http://www.solanaspa.com to check it out.

MACK
The Bullfrog 331 is a nice 3 person tub and has all of the features your looking for
-
We have the Triad by Dimension One (called D1 here on the forum) . It is a 200 gallon 3 person spa. Has one lounge seat and 2 regular seats. My husband is 6' 1", I am 5' 3". The lounger is a little long for me, but perfect for him. We are really happy with it. It is just the 2 of us, and the smaller spa takes less space, less chemicals, less power, etc. Good luck.

Mack, have you ever thought about taking a typing class? :)

Mack, have you ever thought about taking a typing class. :)
That was funny Tileman but, shouldn't your post end with a question mark? ;) ;D
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
-
Sorry Skellman. I had to much coffee today and therefore got in a hury. :)
Thanks,
Chad
-
Chad,
no need to apologize to me, brother. I'm a constant butcher of the english language. ;D
Back to the subject at hand. Is the Sundance Marin a viable option for Mack to look at?
My brother has one and he is very happy with it. I don't know how many people it holds.

If you want a nice 3 person spa than look at what most will tell you is a 5 or 6 person spa...most of the spas that people have mention in this thread if you look at them closely most will seat 2....many in the spa industry will confuse 3 seating potions for seating for 3 real people, 3 adults are not really going to get into most of the tubs in this thread.

I don't know why you would say this. Which of the suggestions would NOT fit 3 soakers?

If the dealer doesn't have the Santa Cruz on the floor, ask for the Topaz which is an upgraded tub (slightly larger with different array of jets). It is in their Gold series. Hope that helps. My wife and I looked and wet tested twice the Piper Glen and found it to be wonderful. It was our second choice of many, many spas we tested. I think Artesian is a fine line of product.

The jetsetter, the fox, the 315, the Santa cruz....all will fit 2 people comfortably but not 3 or not at least 3 adults....I mean yes you can squeeze them in but thats not what most want to do....

ok Tileman I need to practic my typeing , took typeing class in 1971, seem like you never forget but you sure do get rusty if you don't keep up practic, just glad I can get the message across, went and looked at a hotspring spa today the salesman was very nice, just the first one I have came across that offered me a swim suit and a wet test too. Was in virginia beach ,virginia. Didn't take him up on the wet test. but really thinking about itjust I am not big on germs.just me .Been to three doctors one yesterday two today. If there is anything going around bug wise I get it .So wet test seems a no no to me..and Not to sure about the moto-jet on hotsprings tubs. How good are the motor-jet on the hotspring tubs for thearpy ??If I was sure a hottub is something that will fit my pain needs daily, its worth every penny. and the Artesian, santa cruze dealer locator said store was seven miles from my home. turn out is across three miles of water and drive is 55 miles. the sales lady called and said she has one on the floor. just not sure when I can jets on the hot springsake the time to look at santa cruze. . Really did not expect all the good advice so quickly. and I live in north carolina, not the hot tub capital, But I am finding more dealer than I thought. most spas I find ,I am surprised are full foam. you know" JIM " sold me on not to get a full foam. Now I'am thinking might not be a bad thing... thanks all again ps tileman is my typeing better.

The Moto Massage is a great jet. In particular, the double Moto.
As long as the dealer keeps his spas in good shape, you won't have to worry about catching anything. They find it important to keep the spas sanitized because they don't want word getting out that their spas are dirty. Plus, most are decent human beings and just want you to have a good clean spa to try out.
-
Sorry to say Mack but your typing I think is getting worse! I also had typing in '71 but I guess I keyboard all the time in my job, so it comes naturally to me.
Anyway, your comment about full foam vs. non has the potential of opening up Pandora's box so I'm not going to go there. Of the models mentioned, only Arctic will give you an open compartment design; the rest are all FF. For gosh sakes, don't worry about germs in the water. My wife and I wet tested over a dozen tubs and didn't "catch" anything! YOU MUST WET TEST. Not only is it fun comparing seating arrangements, style of seats (upright, reclining, etc), and jet patterns and styles, it's also educational so that you pick out the best one for YOU.
Re: your pain needs. Where specifically do you need the most therapy? You need to identify which model of spa (forget about mfg) addresses your needs the best. That is why you need to wet test as you will not know for sure just by looking at their jet patterns. The MotoMessage is a cool feature by HS. We weren't crazy about the single version but the double is very nice. The only negative thing I've heard about them is that they have a tendency of wearing out and then fixing it under all that foam can be a problem.
Good luck on your search; take your time and keep working on your keyboarding (the term typing went out a long time ago)!

I won't comment on whether they really wear out often (maybe Chas, Term or a HS dealer can comment) as I'm not aware of that being true but I know the last one I changed out in less than 5 minutes and it's done from inside the spa, not under the shell. In fact, any homeowner could do it if it occurred after warranty was up (assuming they own a phillips head screwdriver). I'm not sure why you'd think it was a foam fix. Someone on this site a few weeks back posted about fixing a cracked drain nipple on the back side of the moto massage vessel. I'd expect that to be a rarity but maybe that's where the confusion came in but changing out the jet if it wears out is a very easy fix.

The MotoMassage should last anywhere from 7-10+ years before the rubber hose gives out. To replace it, you don't even have to drain the spa. Remove the faceplate's 3 screws, take the faceplate off, unscrew the old Moto, screw a new one on. Takes all of 5 minutes and costs around $80.
The MotoMassage will last longer than most BRANDS of hot tubs. :)

On the subject of dangers of wet testing: I'd believe that it is as safe as can be, since anything infectious acquired while wet testing would be really bad for sales. My only complaint was that I wet tested 2-3 spas at a time, one after the other on a few different days, and I was pretty itchy. I think it was due to mixing different chems, and so many differet jets, and my skin drying out with repeated dips.
-
If you are afraid of catching something during a wet test have the dealer shock the tub while you're there and don't get it until all is sanitized.
-
This information should help alleviate some of your fears:

Thanks for the clarifications East TX and spatech. Spa was right when he mentioned the guy fixing his Moto and digging up all his foam was what I was referring. Glad to be corrected and set the record straight. But remember guys, you HS dealers can't claim the Moto as a selling point, because according to a lot of folks around here, that would be drinking Koolaid and not justified as a legitimate reason to buy one.
-
HotSpot spas- Trinidad model
Solana Spas- RX, SX, or TX model.
Tiger River Spas- Sumatran model
HotSpring Spas- Jetsetter
Sorry, a litte partial to the Watkins line up, but for good reason.
-
Gee, you think?
-
Well, as an owner of a retail business, I'm not up to snuf on other competitive models, like my staff....sorry.
-
Hey, maybe the most important aspect of any biz is knowing your competition. Your comment surprises me, especially since you're the oldest HS dealer in New England!

I, for one, think the Moto Massage is a great reason to buy a Hot Spring. I love the Moto Massage and nobody has anything close to it. Other than knowing the reputation of Hot Spring from my years in the pool business, the Moto was one of the reasons I bought one. I do know some people don't like the Moto that much, but I love it.

I wouldn't say that it is koolaid, and the moto-deal would be a legitimate reason to buy HS as long as you make sure that you *like* it. It is odd to me that the moto is a big selling point, as it was one of my (opinion again) least favorite things about HS. If the Envoy had a bit more jet power and no moto massage, it would have been about impossible for me to chose between it and my current tub. Just goes to show how vital the wet test is!

Hi Mack,
If you haven't bought your 2-3 man tub, check out the LA Spa's Allure III. It is a powerful 2 pump design, and I am using mine every day for therapy and reduced medicine usage! We love our tub, and it fits our needs perfectly.
It is vital that you wet test every tub you are interested in, and don't buy one without trying them out. I looked at some I thought would be perfect, and changed my mind after trying them out. BTW, I am not a dealer, and did a lot of research before I bought mine---
Good luck,
Geensr

Hi Mack,
Hope your search for your 3 person spa is going well. May I recommend the following Haven models as an alternative for a non full foam spa.
The Freeport in the Provence, Eclipse, or Vista series lines.
Dimensions 59"X79"X34"
The closest Freeport is in Sterling, VA and is a tub that I helped to deliver and install.
or
The Waterford in the Vista or Vista SE series lines.
Dimensions 64"X83"X35"
You mentioned that leg therapy was really important to you so I will mention that the Freeport or Waterford in the Vista Series or the Waterford Vista SE tubs have lounges with 6 leg jets plus 2 more for each foot. If you opt for air injection there are an additional 6 air jets that will be felt by your legs. This lounge also exists in the Shorewood. There is Shorewood SE owner in Roanoke Rapids.
I live in Virginia Beach and I am the sales rep and service tech for Haven spas in our area.
Keep on shopping and follow some of the great advice you are getting here, the most important being wet test the spa you are buying before you purchase. Good Luck!
-
Umm, Mack, you might want to do a search on Haven spas on this forum before you anywhere near them. A lot has been said about them on this forum. NONE of it positive. With all the differing opinions that come out on this forum, there seems to be a close to unanimous consensus on Haven.
-
I would ditto that remark, but searching under "Haven" might not be too fruitful......someone else can explain this better than me, but may I refer you to a couple other threads here?
http://www.whatsthebest-hottub.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1161735636

http://www.whatsthebest-hottub.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1159812306
Obviously, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but as you asked for opinions here, I think you'll find A LOT of useful info on these threads.........
-
In spite of the negativity here and on other forums I'll point out most of it is because of the old geezer, but the old geezer really makes (modifies) a decent tub in my opinion. It's because of the tub that I'm willing to put up with the negativity. Not knowing what to expect when I first met Jim, I discovered a Frank Barone type character (from the TV show "Everyone Loves Raymond") who comes across as being a grouch but is actually kind of funny. Jim is someone you'll really like or really hate, but here its mostly hate. I thought I would post here as an alternative person to talk to about Haven vice having to talk to someone who you may perceive as foaming at the mouth.

well, thanks all a lot of good advice, been here nightly and read and search web. gone through mowt of the locals and travel 65 miles away , none are what they seem as to wet test in my area , you got to be kidding . only wet test is getting into the biggest spa they make and try all the jet dealers say is same as the small three person tub. also called dealer and traveled to there showroom and my bath is bigger than some spas stores I have been too. yes one guy had a warehouse but I couldn't get in it ,was packed with parts and supplies.and some of the beach spas have close for the winter. guess it is seasonal thing here. and I decided on a Barefoot spa.model Body Lounger 57 BL , seem the local dealer is willing for me to pick it up from the factory, after all I been through this seem good to me now. five grand price is more than factory directs online .But is less than a lot of dealer have pushed on me and not all the extras ,, The other dealer here did recommend this local dealer and people that I spoke with say that have good service too. and I can drive to factory is 135 miles ,less than three hours , and I feel this is a plus for me , hope this is all i plan it to be. my pains is in the foot droped a 120lb beer keg onto it , chest pain from a broken collar bone, just flars up in winter wet weather, guess you heard enought of my problems , thanks all again for your replies mack
