Post by: Silent Water on November 01, 2006, 11:48:32 pm
I just heard this afternoon:  [glow]Tomorrow's the big day! [/glow] :)

I'm so wired that I can't sit still.
Quick! Someone tell me a bedtime story while I get the beer milk and cookies.

Today will be the longest day of your life!! :D

Yes, be sure to get 100's of rare photos...  and yes, it takes about 8 hrs to heat up but it's sooo worth the wait!

I deliberately kept myself busy this morning with work so I wouldn't have time to think about the tub.  Delivery is scheduled for early afternoon - sometime between 1:00 and 2:00.

Batteries are charged and in the camera! 8-)

Sundance Bahia, baby! ;D

(Won't that clock move any faster? tick tick tick...)

The bahia?

Sundance requires a water pre treatment and balance on intial fill up. Usually it takes about 2-3 days for the Ions to balance out. other wise the heater can go bad.  You CAN  NOT ue the tub until the ions read about 4.6 ghd on the Slaterly scale.

So you wont be able to use the tub till maybe Sunday morning.  I am surprised they didn't tell you that?

They told you about the  dihydrogen monoxide and it's dangers, right?

I haven't fallen off the turnip truck yet.  It's a bumpy ride but I like it.

Who is Slaterly, anyway?

Quote
They told you about the  dihydrogen monoxide and it's dangers, right?

In fact they did!  If immersed in this liquid at sufficiently high temperatures, a typical side effect is loss of muscle tension, reduced inhibitions and the tendancy to smile uncontrolably.  However, if submerged for prolonged periods at sufficient depth, this substance can cause choking, spluttering, eventual asphixiation and death.  :o

Oh ya.... and you might get wet.

HEY!!  It's almost 1:00.  I better go eat something~!

Just having some fun with ya.  ;D :D :)

oh - it you eat something, you'll have to wait 1/2 an hour before going in the tub.  ;)

that was pretty funny.  I know of a story once of two people partying pretty hard in the tub, with some drugs and boos.  Next thing you know, police find bodies a few days later. Post Mortem said that the bodies had boiled right through cooked the meat.

Dont know how true the story but in my line of work, it is common to find bodies in hot tubs.  Who knows.

You guys are the best! ;D
Sorry to keep you hanging there in suspense - but work got in the way!

My beautiful Bahia arrived at 2:00 yesterday afternoon... and it took the crew of 2 guys nearly three hours to get it in place and set it up.  As you can see from the following pics, it was a tight squeeze gettting it into the yard.  I'm glad I was there to help them 'cause with all the rain we've had lately, the ground was soft and the cart nearly tipped more than once. I asked them twice about taking down a section of fence but they were confident that it would fit through the gate.  It did - and took one of my exterior house lights off in the process!  No big deal though; they made a trip to Home Depot and replaced it even before the tub was full of water. Anyway, with a 7 person tub, you'd think that a crew of three at least would be a good idea.

We got the tub filled and fired up by around 5:00-5:30 with the water reading below 60 degrees.  By 11:30 last night it was up to 95 degrees but I was so burned out by then (working late) that I couldn't even stay up the extra hour to wait for 102.  I would have tried my luck at 95 but it's COLD here (1/2 inch of ice on the pool cover already)!  So it was off to bed and up at the crack of silly this morning to jump in the tub.

What a little piece of heaven!  I actually got to watch the sun come up while sitting in my tub. <sigh!>  Now I understand the meaning of Spatopia. ;D

Here are a few pics of the whole process:

Sorry that you didn't get to unwrap your present, pg_rider.  But you have amazing taste!  Ozonator was the quickest part of the installation.

Thanks, Sledjunkie.  Looks really bare right now with the leaves gone.  From now until spring I miss the colour green.

Congratulations! Enjoy it in good health!!!  The tub looks really nice. You did a wonderful job.  You are going to have a fantastic winter.

From the pics, it looks like you left the labels on the inside of the tub?

I like the light tone of the tub's skirt. I noticed the steps are in a contrasting grey. Did you specify the step colors, or is that thestandard color combo?

That's great that you got the tub installed, wired up, ozinator, cover lifter all done in one shot. It took my dealer a seperate trip for the 03.

Looks Great!  :)

Hey, Drewstar.
Those labels are important! They warn you of the dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide! ;)
I yanked the labels off during my morning soak today.  They spent the night there though 'cause I was otherwise occupied after the tub arrived.

As for the steps, this is not the usual colour combo.  When delivery of my tub was delayed a week, the dealer threw in a set of steps that he had in the shop for free, as well as a few other goodies, including 2 N2 cartridges and some extra chems.  I intended to build my own steps to match the deck but I think that will now wait until spring - unless we get a warm spell before Christmas.

And yes, my first soak was at dawn today!  What a great feeling.
Thanks again!

Congrats, Beautiful set up and hot tub.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Silent, I noticed you’re from London; we’re in St. Thomas and have shopped most of the dealers here and in London. We’ve narrowed it down to the Sundance optima and the Beachcomber 750.

Wet tested both and the Optima is the clear winner for us, only concern the dealer has carried the Sundance line less then a year, very accommodating people with a fairly busy store, felt comfortable with them, but, the beachcomber dealer has made a big deal about the Sundance dealer carrying multiple brands. Was this a concern to you? Should it be a concern?

Want the hot tub before Christmas, times running out, what to do? :-/
Also want a good dealer to help with the water care and service.
Any suggestions?

Yup, It’s a beaut!!!  Keep an eye on your timer silent_water, there was a batch of control pacs that have a defective timer module.  I believe some Sundance and Jacuzzi’s may have been affected by it.  Shouldn't effect the performance of the tub but should be replaced anyway.  More of a nuisance.  ;)

Congats SW!!
They used that same "little wagon" for my delivery. It took 3 of them too handle my J-345 and it's a 7x7. I can't believe just two guys were able to handle your Bahia! :o I thought my delivery was tight at 48'' but yours takes the cake. That was nice of them to go get a new light right away. It's the little things dealers do that really impresses me. Hopefully that is a sign of the kind of service you can look forward to. :) My Jacuzzi was wrapped in the exact same packaging as well. It was like opening a present on Christmas as a kid. Congrats again and enjoy SPATOPIA at last!

Hi, Lookingforhotwater.
Thanks for your compliments!  I'm in Spa Heaven right now!
I've PM'ed you as well in more detail but I wanted everyone else to know that the Beachcomber line was also on my short list. Good product; I really liked it too! A number of factors about the tub swayed me, but in the end, the thing that eliminated Beachcomber from my search was the dealer.  I wasn't impressed with his approach to "helping" me choose.

On the other hand, John at Factory Direct Spas was WONDERFUL!! (You can pay me later, Wetone ;))  He answered all my questions both on the phone and in person, followed up with me after my first visit to his showroom, ASKED ME what was important to me in a tub. He went out of his way to see that I had everything I needed to make the right choice.  He even went so far as to order in the model that we thought was the best fit for my taste and budget, made room for it in the showroom, and filled it for a private wet test.  He then ordered ANOTHER tub to suit my colour preference rather than trying to flog the one he now had in stock.

Don't let the disparaging comments from the other dealer sway you.  If you like the product, rest assured that John will treat you well.  As far as I'm concerned, he's made me a customer for life.

Thanks, Chad!
In reality, they had 3 guys moving this tub (one of them being me!)
I'm not the type who could just stand around and watch my baby tipping back 'n forth.  Sure, if they dropped it they'd have to replace it, but I wasn't prepared to wait even another week! ;)
With a little innovation and a bit of gentle pursuasion, we got the tub in place with no real harm done. Turns out that the set-up crew is headed-up by the brother of the dealer that sold me my tub.  I was impressed with his ethics too.  Should be more people like them in business, IMO.

Everything is going great here at the slimchance camp!!  We're in ours every night, as are you, I'm sure.  :D

The timer is being replaced early next week.  It is coming right from Chino.  I've been invited to a "Hollandia Hot Tub Care and Info" seminar next week.  I guess they do this now and then for all their customers.  A nice touch I think, so I'm going for sure.  They close up shop and bring customers in for a couple of hours.

How about sitting under those stars huh??  And full moon to boot!  AWESOME!!  8-)

Glad that you love yours too, Slimchance.  Have fun at the seminar.
