It seems like no one gives the J-480 much recognition. If I was to recommend a full size spa to someone this would be my first choice. I'm not trying to hype Jacuzzi just because I bought one, but because I think the J-480 gives you everything you can possibly want and need (and then some) at a very good price. Plus, IMO they are also the best looking spas on the market. Just wanted to get that out there as I feel it does not get the recognition it deserves. :)

Plus all Jacuzzi's have-
'' 50/50 air-to-water ratio = jet power. Why is it important to mix air and water in equal parts in a jet stream? It’s all about the way the jets make you feel. Other hot tubs blast water through their jets with uncomfortably strong water pressure. Jacuzzi Premium’s high-volume, low-pressure pumps are designed and built to support the PowerPro™ jet system in delivering a soothing, yet bold, massage. A patented process creates a 50/50 air-to-water mixture that introduces air from all around the jets for a softer feeling, even from jets strong enough to penetrate deep muscle tissue.
With equal volumes of air and water pressure, the exclusive Jacuzzi Premium PowerPro jet system delivers the type of hydrotherapeutic massage recommended by professionals.''

I have always like the Jacuzzi style...
Nice looking tubs.
I like the waterfalls too.
Tres Cool.

Looks nice tileman. Our Sundance/Jacuzzi dealer steered us away from Jacuzzi because he said their jets were not adjustable individually so you can't control their intensity. Is that true? We never wet tested them due to that reason and since they were more expensive than comparable Sundance models.

Jacuzzi would be more popular if some of their dealers weren't quoting absolutely outrageous prices. They make a nice spa, but not any nicer than many others that are thousands cheaper. I wet tested the J-480 and liked it, but didn't love the functionality of the tub. There were also some things that I really did not like. For instance, some in this forum commented that it was like "Pimp My Ride." I would agree that there is just too much "bling" on the spa for my taste. The lighted "Jacuzzi" logos and such are tacky.
Also, the dealer could not figure out how to get the foot dome working on the J-480 that I tested, which kind of intrigued me.
-
SpaMorph is right. I test soaked one 2 weeks ago. It was at a friend's store who is dropping Jacuzzi. For the price it was not that impressive of a massage. No real variety in jet feels. A lot of bling if you're into that but for the price I think you can get a lot more tub out there for the price.
-
When I tested the Jacuzzi I wasn't impressed with their jet system, the dealer tried to tell me it was better but it just seemed soft to me and they were preset so you couldn't change the intensity. I like hard jets with a lot of pressure, maybe I am the only one that likes them that way. I also didn't like that Bullfrog wouldn't let you control the air. I want more control instead of some engineer deciding how I should like it. I also don't like to be told by the dealer that the way they do it is the right way because the experts say so. I didn't buy my tub to please the experts.
-
The deal breaker for me with Jacuzzi was the lack of flat surface for drinks. Not having flat surfaces is beneficial for keeping any water from possibly puddling but, to me, this didn't trump the lack of drink cup area. Otherwise, Jacuzzi produces a very competitive product.
-
Hence the reason why ALL of us could post one spa we feel the same about. One spa is not for everyone and is the reason why there's a few manufacturers around these days! ;)
I like the Jacuzzi molds but personally, I have hard time justifying the price tag on them. I find the therapy mediocre and lacks variety myself but that's not to say that owners of this spa won't enjoy it.

That's odd, I got the J-220 (ok ok no comparison really) and the jets do adjust, plus the diverter allows you to send more power to two seats while lowering the pressure on the other two.
But generally we're into the quiet soak anyhow, so the number/variety/power of jets was not a huge factor for us.
I do find that the foot jets tickle more than they massage, the flow is too concentrated to be comfortable for long.

that is a great looking tub, I considered jacuzzi however, the local dealer was a jerk and a bad sales guy. Just lost me as a customer when I was looking.

I didn't know that this site also goes by the name hateonjacuzzi.com. ;D
I don't know what Jacuzzi spas you guys were in but they must have been the Home Depot ones from way back, that only had the Jacuzzi name and nothing else. YOU CAN ADJUST ALL THE JETS IN EVERY MODEL. I will put my 350Z'S TITLE on Jacuzzis Powerpro MX series jets against any other in the industry. As far as calling Jacuzzi a ''bling'' tub, I think your confusing them with Cal-Spas. 3 LED lights and 2 waterfalls equals bling. I think not.
-
I work on them and Jacuzzi can go bankrupt for all I care. The products are so so but the company is the worse part. Just my experience.

When I tried the Jacuzzi the jets didn't feel very strong to me, they felt soft and smooth. The Jacuzzi dealer sold other brands in his store and steered me to his other brand when I mentioned the jets didn't seem very strong, he said he sells Jacuzzi to people who want the name brand and soft bubbly jets. He claims the softer touch comes with the way they mix the air and that some people like that soft touch better. I didn't, but some folks like a bubble bath with little soft bubbles. That is why there are so many brands out there, different people like different things. I will admit that this tub is great looking and has the prestige of the name Jacuzzi. I wanted a deep messaging tub so I skipped the soft bubble bath types.

That's interesting... I wet tested several tubs and found the jacuzzi's jets very therapeutic and to be just as strong as the others. In fact I was soo impressed I bought the company! ::) Just kidin' but I did by the tub! ;D

I've been touting Jacuzzi on here for over 4 years. I have a J-370, the second largest and a few years old. What I find humorious is the pricing? Seems like Jacuzzi is usually the "most sap you can get for the least amount of money" if you look at other threads. I also think that whoever said they have too much bling is DEFINITELY got Jacuzzi mixed up with one of the other tubs. A large number of jets on my 4-year old model are adjustable (not all, but most). Dealer's being A$$'s can ruin even a good tub so I can see that point.
-
The Jacuzzi pictured did look real purty though!!! ;)
I know the 400 series is their top of the line models. If you don't mind me asking how much are we talking here for the tub first mentioned...10K, 11K, 12K?
I bought my Caldera Geneva (one of the highest end Caldera model...89" x 89") for $7500 including cover lifter. When I priced Jacuzzi, Sundance (Optima) and Marquis they could not come close for the money. All were much more expensive.
To each their own of course!
-
The J-480 is a very nice looking tub. No problems here. How much do they go for--ball park?
-
Just wanted to confirm again from a jacuzzi owner (j-345), you can adjust each jet from off to full throttle.
You can turn the air injection on or off, off gives you a softer massage.
And of course turn the diverter to put all of the pressure to one seat.
Personally it has plenty of power, I may occasionally slightly adjust the diverter valve to increase the pressure on a particular seat but not always necessary.

Local dealer quoted me $13,900.
Definitely too much "bling" on the 400 series tubs. Big, obnoxious "Jacuzzi" lighted logo. Two waterfalls that are both lighted with colors. Too many colored lights and "Jacuzzi" emblems for my taste.

My dealer in St. Louis sells them for $11,500.

$8000 at my dealer in St. Louis will get you a fully loaded J-385. No offense, Genevas are great spas but IMO they were not comparable to the J-385. I have wet tested them both but like you said 2eachthereown. 94x94x38 in. This was the strongest spa I tested especially from the footwell. 4 pumps standard. 1 of couse being the circ. This is not close as you can see with more power, pumps, and greater size. Sorry your dealer was pricing them so high. :( Who knows though you may have wet tested it and absolutely hated it and all this for nothing. Just wanted to clear that up. Funny thing is, is that my Caldera dealer had Genevas at $8200. Here are some J-385 pics.

Sorry for your troubles w/ them in your area. My local spa repair shops and other dealers besides Jacuzzi couldn't say enough good things about them. There's probably a better chance of Microsoft tanking than Jacuzzi. Nothing wrong with making a wish though.

I wet tested alot of tubs and not one was STONGER than Jacuzzi, as strong probably, but to say their soft and bubble you and the dealer must have lost your mind. I'm not sure if you are aware of this but some salesman get bonuses for selling certain tubs. Whether it be a manufacturers whole line or just a specific model. I know this is true for a FACT. I personally know two different salesmen here and they both told me the same thing. They'll push a brand one year to get enough points, to get a free spa from that company. Then poof, next year after they get their new tub they start pushing the spas with the most profitability. This has to be the case in your situation or they have the names swapped on the tubs.

It's nice to hear fom somebody with some knowledge about Jacuzzi. :) If they don't see the quality well that's their loss. I shopped for 7 weeks and like you said I couldn't find a spa comparable to my J-345 at $6000.

I think the thing we must remember that there are a lot of different people out there. What suits one won't suit another. I am glad that you are proud of the maker of your tub. So are all the other others. My personal opinion on the Jacuzzi J-480 at $14,000 for the tub it is way overpriced for the massage i recieved. Value is in each consumer's opinion.
Now for my opinion on Jacuzzi as a maker of hot tubs. They may have orginated the whirpool motor but they did refine it to be the end all beat all hot tub. The rest on there name alot and there are many more companies doing it alot better than they are. The Jacuzzi has gone from the joke of the industry to trying to become a leader again by bastardizing the Sundance brand they bought. Thats is my opinion after being in this industry for 20 years.

The deal breaker for me with Jacuzzi was the lack of flat surface for drinks. Not having flat surfaces is beneficial for keeping any water from possibly puddling but, to me, this didn't trump the lack of drink cup area.

I can't understand the grammer in paragraph 2. I'm not being a smart a$$, just really can't comprehend the sentences.

Sorry I didn't have any coffee in me when I wrote it.

The Jacuzzi has gone from being the joke of the industry to trying to become a leader, by bastardizing the Sundance brand they bought. They took a lot of features that made Sundance unique and put them on the Jacuzzi. They didn't develop anything new, they just purchased a company and took their features and changed them slighty, and called them orginal. I have had several brands of hot tubs in my back yard over the years, and sat in dozens more. Jacuzzi's jets are nothing spectacular. Thats is my opinion after being in this industry for 20 years.
That sounds better and now I'm awake.

Your opinion is appreciated. Someone with your experience probably has a pretty good one too. It's funny when I started this post I just wanted to get the J-480 name out there as one of the best full sized spas.I had no idea it would turn out how it did, but as long as I'm happy w/ them and found one of the best dealers in St. Louis then there is nothing else to say.

Just a little diddy here...
The Jacuzzi's are a family of five brothers. One of the brother's daughter was my backup singer, several years ago when I hit the roads with my vocal cords in hand.
The brothers have pretty much retired and the new CEO's are not as quality conscience in my opinion. By the way...Mr. Jacuzzi's house is to die for!
It sits on a mountain top overlooking a river, the entire roof of the ball room slides back on a track opening up the entire wing to the outdoors. This thing is huge!
It is the shiznit!
Of course, knowing the family I thought that a Jacuzzi was the only way to go, however when I researched them, there was not one that suited me.
-
Just like to clear up the pricing on the J-480. In St. Louis they go for $11k and $12k with stereo. So all your guys quotes seem to be abnormally high. I think at their STL prices it is fair to say that this spa is far from being overpriced. JMO.

Tileman,
I am glad you are so proud of your tub. What did you expect when you put the thread out that it was one of the best tubs for the money. That is your opinion and now you have received several more opinions concerning your hot tub from other people. Like someone else said, different strokes for different folks. Now everybody chill out and climb in your hot tub. AHHHHHHH so much nicer in hot water. ;D
-
Thanks for the reply but just to clear things up agian I don't think I ever said it was one of the best spas for the money. Because Imo their is no such thing at that price. To me a bargain would be a smaller spa w/ same fatures at 1/2 the price. Which is what I opted to do when purchasing a 300 series.
