OK. I get it already. There's more than one stunted adolescent mind @ work here into T&A big time. Big T's at that. Any females here feel offended by this constant stream of semi-degrading photos of unrealistic bimbos? And a bunch of affirming grunts and cat calls from the hard ons in the peanut gallery? Or just pee'd off that the 'boys club' can't get enough of chix in hot tubs with the realistic proportions of Barbie? Hey! who cares right? After a while women just won't want to post or get advice here as the Common Denominator is at a continual Low.
Show a pic that produces actual thought or discussion. This is really starting to bug me. I come here for advice, information and options regarding my hot tub. Not pictures of bikini-clad, cloying sexist images. If you want porn - go to a porn site. Neither am I a prude - it's just starting to look increasingly stupid to have some bubbles around a bathing suit or vice versa. On every pic o' the bloody day. It cheapens the site. And don't tell me to mellow out. There's nothing wrong with balance in the portrayal of women as well as our water.

So, don't click on "pic o' the day" then. What, are you expecting pictures of jets & motors?
Also, the only actual nudity I've seen on this site was a GUYS butt.

semi-degrading photos of unrealistic bimbos [
You just called them bimbos. How much more degrading is that?
Please show me where posters have "degraded" the people in the pics of the day?

How are these pictures "Degrading"?
Why are the women "bimbos"?
I will tell you to mellow out. How dare you chastize the board en'mase with your a skewed eye focused on your own issues of sexuality and women and then demand no one dare contradict you. The problem seems to be in your own limited viewpoint.

Perhaps it's just my stunted adolescent mind but, that pic certainly produced some thoughts in my mind. :P
By the way, some of the best input comes from the women on this forum. I don't see them going anywhere.

Boobies are bad, mmmmkay people? Admiring attractive women might make other's feel bad and funny and confuse them so the get angry and stompt thier feet.
-
Actually, this is a great discussion!
This is really starting to bug me. I come here for advice, information and options regarding my hot tub. Not pictures of bikini-clad, cloying sexist images.
RANDOM, I come here for the same reason and I must say that I've learned a TON from the helpful people here, male and female alike. This is a wonderful forum to share ideas and questions about tubs!
I've also seen a lot of silly posts - as well as some that got downright nasty over issues that people take very seriously (let's use FF vs TP for example). I've seen lots of irrelevant posts too, but they tend to add levity to the forum. All in all, I think that we've got a good group of people 'round here and most of us aren't out to offend anyone.
I can't speak for the other males in the group but I don't come here to "oggle the babes". At the same time, I do open the pic of the day posts, knowing full well that I'm likely to encounter a bikini-clad model. And sometimes I laugh at how artificial they seem. Sometimes the pics/comments make me sad :'( but most of the time they make me smile ;) and I go onto the next post.
I know that my Y chromosome won't allow me to speak objectively about sexism. But I can say that we all have different tolerance levels for just about everything - including sexism in advertising - and in conversations. It's too bad that this pattern is starting to bug you and that you're not enjoying the site as much because of it.
It's a good bet that you won't stop people from posting pics like this so I'm genuinely curious: do you have a solution to the propblem?
Would adding "BIKINI Pic of the Day" to the subject line help you avoid the images you'd rather not see?
-
Silent,
That was a lucid, well thought out, polite response that made several valid points.
We'll have none of that here.

But I am trying to show pictures of hot tubs. Is it my fault that pretty women keep getting into them? ;) :D

Less talk....more pics ;)
-
Got ya. But there can only be one pic of the day per day. So I believe it's my turn Monday.

Unless you change the title to "Pics" of the day. ;)

You know the saying "Too much of a good thing".

Actually, as a female, I'm mostly amused by the silliness of most of the pictures and comments.
But since you asked, I did wince a bit at the one the other day where a customer's photo was posted and then commented on in a way that I felt was over the line. Not sure I'd want to be in her situation.
I think that what a lot of guys don't "get" is that while they may mean to be "flattering," or "just have fun," being the object of such comments can sometimes be uncomfortable. Women (or men) who pose, knowing their photo will be public and subject to comment - whatever anyone may think of that - have less reason to complain than someone who is simply going about the business of life.
As in most situations, context plays a role. If we were on a different kind of forum, my response might be different.
FWIW everybody . . .

Umm....nope, I'm not familiar with that one. :)

I'm all out. That was my "thought of the day". I'm spent 'til tomorrow. ;D

I don't see why the pic-o-whatever-day cannot go on the BS page. Isn't that really the better place for them? They'd be just as accessable, and it would make the main forum page a little more credible as a place to get INFORMATION, especially for those coming here for the first time. I accept that it is inevitable that those threads will be here and I'm not going to debate the degredation of women or the use of the term "bimbo" - that is a waste of time. But "A place to ask questions and get answers about hot tubs" seems like it should be just that, and "Somewhat or barely Hot tub related" seems like a better place for eye candy, soft porn, smut- whatever it is to you.

How come there was never such an issue with this when Term was posting these? Are you guys/gals afraid to get shot? :D

It is certainly not you. I have the same opinion with Term's, or anyone's photos. I appologize if you took it personally. You happened to start a debate that I chimed in on, and perhaps those of us objecting just reached a threashold of irritation.
-
I'll leave that call up to the mods.
I hear a good long soak is great for irritation, unless the water chemistry is off. :D
I never take anything said on a forum personal. Only people close to me can upset me since I love them. I always find it amusing when people get all upset over things said in a forum. Since only my friends a family know who I really am, only they really count.
