Title: Stabalizer question
Post by: Movinon on September 28, 2006, 06:33:15 am
I have had my hot tub for about 5 weeks now and up to this point, keeping the water balanced has been surprisingly easy using the aqua check test strips.  Last night, I did my usual test and found the stabilizer readings in the high range, 150 ppm +.  What would cause this?  How do I get this down to normal range?

It's caused by the chlorine. Dichlor has cyanuric acid(stabilizer) in it. The way to get it back to accepable level is to dilute the solution or drain the water.

Generally you're fine with the level until your 3-4 month water change. If you tend to use more chlorine than necessary, than you shorten the time frame.
