Took my filter out to rinse off and when rinsing noticed a white miky substance being washed off. Never have seen it before and was wondering if is something to be cooncerned about. Water has been clear and chemicals within guidelines. Use chlorine daily and shock hard once per week.

What's your PH and Calcium hardness?
What type of shock are you using?
Had any "fun" in the tub recently? ::)

Funny Vinny I was thinking the same thing!!!
Why don't you try "fishing" the stuff out? ;)
-
Do you use any clarifier?
What are you shocking with?
Could be some type of bath product (deodorant, lotion, hairspray, makeup, etc.)
Might be time for a water change.

I had the same thing when i first filled spa dumped water after one month and now 2 months later everything is great.no probs whatsoever still dunno what that weird stuff was.

ph is 7.8 hardness is fine. shock with chlorine once per week.

Have you used anything else besides chlorine? Are you using dichlor? Did you add any PH increaser?
Is it possible it's a coating of bacteria or is something disolving? How old is the water?
Skin Problems?
I'm reaching for something here - I don't have a clue!

I would imagine this would be the cause. Its just a small build up of body oils that accumulate in the filter bay and on the filter

the stuff i had really stuck to the filter and dried to a white powder.seemed to dry rather quickly also

Vinny,
Only use chlorine. Water has been perfectly clear and no skin problems. Really no problems at all with the water in the tub. The water is over three months old. I could change but didn't see the need as the quality has been fine. Was just curious as I have never noticed any white substance when rinsing off the filter before. Maybe check filter again this week and then plan on changing water in next couple of weeks.
