How can you tell if your spa is spongeworthy?

I bought two of those ("Dirty Duck"), used the first one for a while but it kept getting caught in the filter thingie, and never seemed to change color........I tossed it out with my last water change and never bothered to open the other package. Anyone want it?

Ask Elaine Bennis.

Those sponges soak up oils, right?  So if you don't have a lot of that in your spa water, maybe the sponges are not necessary.  I haven't found them necessary, but a friend at work says his teenage kids and their friends are always in their spa freshly slathered down with sunblock and other goop.  He swears by them.
