Its been like 98-100 degrees for a few days. I can't keep the tub under 105.. I have it set for 80 with the summer mode turned on but no luck.. is this normal?

Yes
-
Prop your cover open if you can and that should help some. We have been over 100 for several weeks straight and I'm able to keep the tub about 99 most of the time.
-
I'll try that.. thanks

I had a new spa customer buy a couple bags of ice to chuck in the tub.

I like the ice idea...

Tell me about the heat!! We got our hot tub last Friday and then Saturday was a record HI at around 102 F Perfect timing.
-
Being in Northern Minnesota you will never ever ever hear me complain about the heat!!!
If it gets above 95 (which it has been) and in the upper 80's to low 90's for a few weeks, I think about chipping ice from my garage door in Nov.,....Dec....Jan.....Feb....Mar....well you get the idea.
Bring on Global Warming.

No, no, no...no global warming!! Florida can't take it...it's already hotter than hades and we don't need anymore hurricanes.
Tman122, I'll trade places with you. ;)

Those kinds of temps are the norm here and will be for at least the next two months. I don't know how cool you want it, but I leave my cover propped open all night and can get my water temp to the upper 80's or low 90's, and our overnight lows are in the mid to upper 70's.

As far as the ice idea, I tried that on my tub. I put 20lbs of ice in that cost almost $4 and it lowered 1 degree.
What I do is leave my cover open and if I don't want to take the time to allow my water to cool down that way I will open the drain valve to allow water to drain and put a hose in at the same time. This will cool my tub down pretty quick.

It has been 104-107 for the last few days here, and a couple weeks ago we had a week of over 103, with the coolest days in the mid ninety's between then and now. Propping the cover with a sinle tennis ball is all that it has taken for my tub to stay at 100. I love that idea.

Now there's an idea for a new business. Finding people and matching them up with other people in other parts of the country that want to vacation at other folks places because of the area......hmmm
Problem is I want to go to Fl. in Jan. and you want to come to Minnesota in July...sigh. OK cappycat you bring beer and steaks and come on up you can stay in my camper for a few days to a week for nothing, check out the area, be a bit cooler, and then go home. I'll be down in Jan. fix up the spare room.

Last night was the first night of the year that it was too hot to tub. Our highs for the day have been hot and humid, but not to the extreme of some of you with daily highs around 93, but last night was the first night it never cooled off. At 10:30 it was still 86 and humid and near 100% humidity.
