Title: Marquis Destiny?
Post by: bohms4 on July 03, 2006, 05:59:17 pm
Ok, I already asked about the HS Sovereign, now today we went to look at Marquis.  I think out of the ones that we saw, we liked the Destiny.  We were quoted $9,060.  Is this an ok deal?  That will come with the in house monitor, tub remote, cover, steps, tax and delivery.  Any advice/comments that you can give about the Destiny would be great.

We sell that spa for $10,190 at the Marquis factory stores without steps or cover lift, and there is no sales tax in Oregon.  I would say you are getting a pretty good deal.  The Destiny is the most powerful tub Marquis offers.  My favorite seat is the one with the neck jets where you can get the 5 HK40s on your upper back.  If you haven't wet tested it, you should.  Good luck in your search.

Markee - thanks for your response.  I'm curious, what do you sell the Epic for - we were quoted $10,296.

$11,310 is our price on the Epic.  The Epic is an awesome tub, my favorite.  It is also Marquis #1 selling spa nationwide.  The only other thing I would suggest is printing out the $200 internet coupon off the Marquis website and see if the dealer will honor it.  What dealer are you working with?

Rix Pool and Spa Center in East Hanover, NJ.  I don't see the coupon on the website - where is it?

On Marquisspas.com, click on "Exclusive Web Offer" in the upper left corner to print the coupon.  We sell the Destiny for $9995, with the coupon discount already figured in.  We take the customer to the website to print out their coupon.
The dealer you are dealing with is offering the Destiny at a great price.  Their freight expenses will even be higher to get the spa to the East Coast.
Have you wet tested yet?  I have never had anyone wet test a Destiny and not buy it.

DPS - no, we haven't wet tested it yet.  Where are you located?  I'm happy to hear that the dealer is giving us a decent price.  We were actually very happy with our salesman and we're leaning towards the Destiny over the HS Sovereign.
DPS & Markee - do you have any thoughts about the upgraded 630 in comparison to the Destiny?

The 630 Ultimate is an awesome tub with most of the features of the Destiny.  It just depends on how much tub you need.  The Destiny is going to come standard with colored lighting, waterfall light, floating remote, in-home monitor, a bigger control panel, steel reinforced base, 8 more jets, tri-zone therapy control, and 2 years more warranty in each category.  You have to decide if it is worth it for the extra 2500-3500 for the Destiny.  Keep in mind, the 630 and Destiny are made with the same components, at the same factory, to the same quality standards.  Think of the Everyday line as the Chevy or Toyota and the Marquis line as the Cadillac or Lexus.  If you wet test, there should be no comparison between the Destiny/630 and the Sovereign, because the two Marquis tubs are two pumps, and the Sovereign is one.  If you're looking for therapy, I'd strongly encourage a two jet pump system.

Or in other words they have a full three-year warranty that the CD units do not....or in other words they require no maintence unlike CD types or in other words they have been proven in testing to last for about 7 years with no loss in ozone output ....or in other words they are very good unit....

or in other words they don't off gas ozone in the extreme levels that corona discharge ozonators do.

or in other words there is no maintenance required that the homeowner has to put on "protective clothing, protective eyeware, and protective gloves" to perform due to the acid created by the electrical fields of a cd ozonator. (look at your owner's manual)

The ozonators standard on every Marquis Spas just produce the correct amount of ozone, maintenance free, for a very long life.  They are also not a dealer installed option, added after the spa has gotten whatever safety rating it can get without ozone.  And they are not excluded from the spa's warranty like all of the dealer added - not "factory installed parts" cd ozonators.

There, I'll get down from the soap box now.  Sorry to interrupt Mendo.

lol...thats alright DPS...Maybe I am just being a bit sensitive today....but I took it as a bit of slam and I think just saying NO they do not have a CD ozonator would NOT have answered the question to just say NO would imply they have no ozone unit...my answer was just stating what they do have without getting into who's is better....We offer spas that use both and I much prefer the Marquis unit and the warranty backs it up....

Sorry bohms4, I neglected to answer your question.  I am in the North Central Texas area.  I think MarKee answered the question perfectly about comparison between the Ultimate 630 and the Destiny.  On the Destiny you have a few added therapy options with the Tri-Zone system and a little more "luxury".  In my stores, the price difference is around $2500 between the 2.

Thanks.  The price difference betweein the Destiny and the upgraded 630 at the dealer we went to was $1249.  Destiny is $9060 and the upgraded 630 is $7811.  DPS - I'm surprised to see that you're more expensive down there in Northern Texas than we are here in Northern NJ....20 minutes from NYC.  Seems odd to me.  Being that the differece in prices between the two are only $1249 my assumption is that you would spring for the Destiny, right?  I appreciate everyone's help.

Ouch, prices sure have gone up since I was looking last year. http://www.whatsthebest-hottub.com/cgi-bin/reviews.cgi?view=product&pid=381&rid=665&pg=2&sort=&search=

Wet test all three models and see which one fits you the best. The Epic will be hard to beat if price isn't a concern. Good luck. Let us know which one you go with.

bohms4: for that price difference, I would definitely get the Destiny.  If you want to save a little on price, ask if you can buy the spa without the in-home spa monitor.  Also, how much does your local dealer sell the Epic for?

Gomboman:  Prices did increase from last year.  Unlike technology, spa prices have been rising dramtically instead of dropping.  Marquis experienced 3 or 4 price increases last year alone that most dealers passed on to the customers.  Most people fail to realize that a large majority of a hot tub is  some sort of plastic, and plastic is made with oil.  Not to mention the freight costs to get that oil product to the consumer have sky rocketed as well.  Part of the reason for the price increase from last year, the Marquis in-home spa monitor is now included standard with all Marquis two pump spas, whereas it wasn't standard and built in to the price last year.

The Epic is a tad too big - only 6 inches bigger on each side but it makes a difference.  My dealer gave us a price of $10,296 on the Epic.

On the CD ozone question, I was just looking for a straight answer, which you all provided.  Not meaning to slam...

Dan,

I apologize if I misread your intention ...Depending on where someone is shopping they sometimes seem to think there is only one type of a ozone unit available or that if it is a UV type than they are all the same....which they are not....the unit Marquis uses which is a balboa unit has proven to be very reliable and very consistent with the amount of ozone it produces....

Yes, bohms4, with the prices that close I would opt for the Destiny.
