Title: Test Strinp Question
Post by: cappykat on July 01, 2006, 11:29:12 am
I've been using the test strips for almost a year.  The color range for pH is from light orange to almost a bright orange/pink.

I tested today doing my weekly routine and the pH is bright purple. Test strips aren't expired so does anyone know what "bright purple" means and why I'd be getting that color?

Dilute your spa water 50/50 if you get a normal reading then your ph is reeeeally high.

Very odd...I removed the cover, ran the pumps on high for about 30-45 minutes.  Didn't add anything, tested again and the pH and alk is very low now--below 7.2

TO borrow a few words from Vinny

Taylor test kit

Good luck, in our experience and to test out advise from Vinny and others I bought a 'Taylor Trouble Shooter' kit.  Then I tested the water with the kit and also the last test strip in the jar. I got two very different results, SO I took a water sample to our dealer and had them perform thier test.  The dealers (hach) test was almost exactly the same as the Taylor. I now agree with others on this site and will never use the strips again. By the way our strips were not expired either.
