Title: A "shocking" question.

Should a tub be shocked every week or on a consistent schedule if it is very rarely used or only after it is used? My sanitizer is Bromine?

As you say, a consistent schedule that works for you.  The way to judge that is if your water makes it to 3-4 months without changing your doing something right.
