Title: Help With J-350 Diverter Valve
Post by: pratzert on June 16, 2006, 06:18:22 pm
Hi !  I have a Jacuzzi J-350 and one of the diverter valves was "Stuck".   It is SO stuck that I have cracked the handle trying to turn it.

I dis-assembled the valve and it's a pretty simple set-up.

There is a plastic flow restricter which directs the flow from the "feed" to one set of jets or the other.

When I removed it, it was scored up from small debirs such as very fine sand stones etc.  I cleaned it up and wiped out the valve.  I then applied some teflon lubricant used for spas and swimming pools and re-assembled.

It turns much easier now.   I now have to find a replacement handle ( or 2 ).  I am considering if I should go ahead and replace those restrictors or not.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,  Tim

As long as they are turning smooth it is ok
to leave them.  You may want to turn off the
power and remove and clean them every so
often.
If you are bringing a fair amount of sand and grit
into the spa you should keep the nylon mesh
covers over the intakes in the footwell.

MJB,

Thanks.   I'll put the little mesh covers over the intakes back on again.

They are always coming off though....

My local Jacuzzi dealer had the replacement handles at $1.75 each... I was surprised ( pleasently).

Thanks,  Tim
