Post by: WAZUP on June 11, 2006, 02:01:43 pm
COuld some one please explain to me the salt water system for hot tubs and how it works? I would think that this would be very corrosive especially with all the jets etc.

I have the system on my swimming pool---love it! We do not sell or recommend it for spas. Hot water , undercover, is a different animal from cool swimming pool water.

I tested a system for our manufacturer a few years ago.  You put 4 large bottles of a salt additive in initially and a bromine generator turned it into Bromine.  It never functioned properly for more than a day or two, in spite of the manufacturer sending replacement parts for me to install to try and fix it.  Wherever the water dried - steps, step in area, floor, it left behind a residue of salt crystals.
I wouldn't recommend it.

With an install from a qualified technician would'nt that still void your warranty by modifying the spa?
