I was reading another thread that mentioned spas that have proprietary filters (I think L.A. Spas is a good example with their sock). Are there any other major spa companies that have cartridge filters that must use that specific companies filters?
As a general rule do most spas have filters that can be purchased at spa supply stores

Dealers:
If it's allowed 'blow your companies horn' we're in the spa market, the ease and expense of filter changing/cleaning/replacement is a big factor.

Consumers are free to purchase their supplies any place they chose to. Dealers try to maintain a reason, and in this case manufacturers too, to stop by once and a while for their needs. Dealers also maintain internet ordering for the customer.
For this reason, some sell Baquaspa product and have a specific territory of non-compete. Because it is incompatible with other products, it brings the customer back to a single source. Proprietary Filters from SD, HS or others also serve the purpose of maintaining customer contact. These items can also be found through different sources and on the internet at competetive prices.

HS Tri-X filters are proprietary, but all the other filters are not: HS, Tiger River, Solana, HotSpot and Caldera.
