Title: I need help buying a hot tub
Post by: wonton on May 13, 2006, 08:44:08 am
:I have been doing some research and narrowed it down to 2 brands. Artesian and Hot Springs. The Artesian model is the Grand Cayman with 62 jets maintenance free cab. 24 hour pump, cover and cover lifter@$7,990 The Hot Springs is the Grandee with the cover ,cover cradle ll, small steps, ozanator, and 220 box.@ $8,724 . I am already way over budget. My spouse is carrying on about the price of the hot springs which is the one I really want. It needs to seat 6. What do you think of these prices? Or is there some thing else out there I should consider looking at. Please someone give me some direction The Hot springs dealer would not budge from his price and let me walk.

Those are reasonable prices for brand name 6 person tubs.

Although I own the Cayman, pick the one you like the best. $800 isn't that much of a difference IF you like something; you'll be living with it for a while. If you own it for 10 years that's $80.00 a year - don't go to fast food joints for once a month! :D

Seriously, the Cayman is an awesome tub but so is the Grandee from all that I've read. Let your body (if you wet tested) and the dealer you feel will support you the best (and you like the best too) be your guide.

I would suggest if you can,to WET-TEST any spa you are considering.

With Hot-Springs,you can expect great customer service throughout your ownership of the spa. That in itself has to be worth something, yes?

That's the dealer not the manufacturer. Ask some of our local HS customers about that.

Thanks for the advice. I did wet test them. The thing  I really like is the moto massage on the Hot Springs. My husband will not wet test. To him the Artesian was higher than he wanted to spend. I can't find any floor model sales in NJ to get it cheaper. But i guess if Artesian is a good brand and he is still freaking out. I will have to get that one. Thanks again

Wonton, You will not hear of Catalina talked about much on hear as I do not think there are any dealers on this forum that are with Catalina, but my wife and I have had our Catalina Stealth Raptor for 1month and love the tub. It seems to be a very good tub, It has 66jets with synthetic siding, cover and lifter, steps, Fiber optics, CD player with sirius satelite radio and subwoofer and amp. along with misters that go around the tub and is used to shoot a cool mist of water over you if you get to hot.
The tub has 1 lounger and 5 seats so it will seat six.
It is a big tub 8x8 and 40 inches deep.
You can go to www.catalinaspas.com and go to their stealth series tubs and click on the raptor. They also have many other types of tubs.
Not sure if you even have a dealer in your area or not.
As far as price we got all of this for $7500.00
People on here talk about a prorated warranty with Catalina but ours is covered full with no proration, may depend on your dealer not sure.
Good luck on whatever tub you choose. The two tubs you mentioned seem like very nice tubs, just trying to give you an option at a little lower price, even though it is not much lower.
whatever you get and spend you and your husband will find that it was well worth the money.

Grandee price is great.  What about the Vanguard to save money.  Smaller, but still seats 5-6.

Welcome to the board wonton! :)

As far as your dilemna:  don't settle for less than what you really want or you may regret your decision and end up not even using the spa.  If you like the HS, get it as you will never have to buy another spa.  If the Grandee is just too expensive for your husband's taste, you might consider the Vanguard:  same layout as Grandee but a bit smaller and less expensive.  It will seat six people.

Good luck with whichever you choose. :)

I purchased a Beachcomber 580 last summer, but my second choice was the Hot Springs Grande.  I really liked the Grande and the choice came down to asthetics.  I was quoted a price around $8,900 delivered plus tax.  This also included the Fresh water system, sounds like you are getting a great deal and should jump on it.

Wonton:
I paid more then that almost 2 years ago in my area but to this day have never been sorry we did it. The Grandee is tops in my book !!  I also love the tri-X filters as they are so easy to care for. One of the major reasons we went with HS was the dealer. I couldnt be happier with the service after the sale and in this day and age that is a huge factor to consider. Good luck on your purchase as both tubs you are thinking about are great products.

Get what you want, or you might have buyers remorse. What's that old saying?   "Buy the best and you only cry once."

Sounds like you got a great price on two solid tubs.  Go with the one you like best...don't let $500-$800 stand in the way.

If you're willing to pay $8,500 you probably need to go with the Hot Springs.  If you're looking to keep it under $6,000 Artesian Island (32 or 42 jet models) will probably fit your needs.
