Title: Preparing a spa for storage
Post by: bulmer4nc on May 14, 2006, 12:08:16 pm
I'm about to pack up our Sundance Optima as we're moving in a few weeks.  Any suggestions on how I should 'prepare' the spa for storage?  It's going to be moved from our current backyard to the new house and stored in the garage for probably 3 months.   Any tips or suggestions on things I could do to prevent any problems for when I reinstall it after the summer?

It is going to be stored upright and someone has already suggested that it's ok to do that and to make sure the filter side is down so the air pump does not get any water it in.

Thanks so much for any thoughts or tips...

Ken

I would suggest telling the spa a few things such as:

"This is not your fault. We just need a little space right now."

or,

"This is not about you."

perhaps,

"You will feel a little empty at first, but we know you have what it takes to get through this all right."

;)

Or you could just be sure to suck it dry with a shop vac, and keep it up as you tip and move the spa.

Depending on who is moving it, you might have your dealer put a cardboard wrap on it and stretch wrap it.  The material is usually disposed of after delivery, he can save it for you to wrap as well, but stretch wrap will hold it secure and tight.  You will get water out of it when it goes up on it's side.  Shop vac the jets that are on the bottom side where the water settles.  This will evacuate 99% of the water from the spa.
