Title: Advice for a First Timer
Post by: Rowan on May 07, 2006, 09:07:23 am
We're ready to take the plunge and buy our first tub.  We're setting up our wet tests for this week (which I know will make our decision for us), but I wanted to check on the "deals" that we've gotten for our potential tubs.  Any comments on the "deals" would be greatly appreciated.

A couple of notes:
-Our ideal size is appx 7'x7' with a maximum of 7'5"x7'5"
-We think we would like a lounger (but depends on the wet test)
-Our budget is $7,000 or less
-Calf massage is important

That said, all prices include cover, steps, starter chems and delivery - here's the "deals":
D1 - Aurora II, year unknown, Floor model (white interior), $6,199, liked the sell/dealer
Sundance - '05 Cayman, $4,800, liked the sell/dealer
Sundance - '06 Majesta, $6,800 (I think), more bells & whistles than we think we need - but the only non-lounger
Caldera - '06 C45 (apparently this is a newer model - similar to the Geneva), $6,999, larger retailer/harder sell, but satifactory rating on BBB - said these were a bulk buy by the retailer - and thus the "great" deal - he was buying one himself.

I always liked the D-1 Aurora II.

Sounds like your doing it right, let the wet test weigh heavily.  I'm sure other factors will come up such as your comfort with the dealers.  Perhaps narrow it down to two and make a couple of trips to each dealer to sort it out.

Check out the Marquis Epic, price is a bit higher, adirondak chair (lounger) has foot, calf and thigh jets.  Nice tub and no regrets here.
