The Prince of Darkness and his Cronies are telling a poor young soul over there that you can't move a full foam spa on its side. Why, you may ask? Because the structural foam will redistribute vibration and pull the jets away from their housings. ;D
He needs to lay off the left handed cigarrettes for while and come back to the planet I like to call Earth. I still can't believe people fall for his diareah of the mouth. :P

I know you told me before, but where can I find this nut? I rememberf vaguely seeing a bunch of crap on his site, plus a well thought out analysis of HotSpring, written by yours truly in this very forum, but lifted by the scoundrel and presented as his own. That's the thing with the internet, there is no way to protect one's self from all kinds of un-American activities.
W.C. Fields said there is a sucker born every minute (or maybe it was Ringling, or Barnum or one of those guys), and then he said "Never give a sucker an even break."
Thanks,
Bill

Carefull guys, keep in mind the damage he did to CalSpa with that amazing law suit of his....
He sure showed THEM!
::)

A true man will go to his site to belittle him. Except when he has had enough he takes his ball and goes home.
It's his logic or none for those that surround him. God forbid you have a mind of your own.
-
Yes, I have the same question as Mr. Bill. Where is the site you are referring to? Perhaps someone could pm me if you don't want to litter this site.

"Our Cheapest H???? models with the lowest prices, are better made, stronger, out perform, have better quality of water, and out last those POS spas they sell at any price."
Can anyone guess who's said these words.
By the way, POS stands for "piece of S..."
-
Goboman and Bill Stevenson, check you PM's.
The "Don't put a full foam spa on it's side" blathering was started by LP, one of the Emperors faithful lap dogs. There are a few mis guided souls over there who blindly belive everything their master says.
Of course the master chimes in with some BS about jets popping out and such.
Did that Cal Spa lawsuit include an order for the Dark One to stop posting about them? I see he's now onto his usual tack- turning everything into an anti-Hot Springs rant session. Even going as far as calling Gulf Coast the Hot Springs of the east or some such nonsense.
Anyone want take odds on how long it is before he pulls the few posts that ask him if his "forum" is anything more than a sales add for his own spas?
-
I did post there with that quesiton, and my post never appeared. ::)

Did I miss a conclusion to that saga, or was there some sort of gag order on both sides?
-

I post over there all the time. After a while of allowing my post's he will eventualy remove the whole thread as if you start from the begining and follow my logic you can't not see his sales pitch of a web site and words. Got a couple going over there right now.
And by the way, Hi Jim, he reads all these hot tub forums.

Yes, Don Quixote as I like to call him, does indeed. Our site is the one he mentions as being dominated by unholy gun nut spa salesmen.

I'd like to know what site this guy is on. Could someone PM me and let me know where to go?

I have no doubt he reads this fourm. He lifts topics and statements off this forum to seed his own little circle jerk of a message board.
Hi Jimmy! you crazy insane delusional nut case! Don't ever change!
Waiting for the day he fatally slices his wrists on Occams Razor. ;)

You should read his latest and greatest War and Peace rendition on the whole Costco situation. Ahh, mis-information can be comedic therapy sometimes. :)

What do you mean? The delusion part? That's my own opion based on observed interactions.
Occam's razor is a figurative analogy.

No, the Delusional part I'm on board with.

Are Occam Razor's good for shaving heads? I currently use a Mach III but I am always looking for a smoother shave so I can get a little more head shine. Makes for a better spa presentation.

No, the Delusional part I'm on board with.
One of the man's faults is he's dysfunctionaly obbessed and his logic and pontifications become comedic. Many times, in engineering circles, folks will remind eachother not to cut themselves on Occams razor (don't disregard the obvious). My statement was his fualty logic and half sciences will damage him, or if you will cut him, hopefully on his therotical wrists, as to kill his inane ramblings.
Ref: Google: Occam's razor.
I did not intend to imply physical harm to anyone. I appologize if anyone got that impression.
Term: Sure, they're great for shaving ones head. But then again so is trepanation.
Geez, I full of bizzare references today. I'm bored. :P

THIS IS A POST FROM THAT OTHER "FORUM"
The spa industry has been in trouble for the last 4 years, with the economy all up and down, but mostly down. Even our manufacturer has come up with some cheap spas that compete directly with Costco, but are much higher quality than the Hot Spring standard models.
Whenever there has been a depression in the spa sales, I see this happening. They came out with the Tiger River low end spas during one of the worst recessions. Sundance came out with spas that cracked and leaked the 700's of the early 90's. They all do what ever it takes to survive. But they continue to sell with the same hype as if the new products are even comparable to the old.
We, H**** Spas, are sort of immune from this, because we sell to mostly the super high end customers, who normally have good income and appreciate real fine quality products. Instead of building a spa with 50 jets and selling it for $5000; We build one with stronger shell, stronger cabinet, and a single high end pump that will run for a long, very long time without problems. Which is a better thing to do? 1/ Build a spa that breaks down, has terrible energy efficiency and has lot of jets or 2/ Build real work horses that run and run but with less features. Which one is doing good deeds for your customers?
My ideal is to have H**** spas running after 20 years, with the same controls and to never let the quality drop, but to continue to increase quality. During the recession of 2002 when 40 spa brands disappeared, we added the upgrades to the SCF and made the SE spas with even more expensive pumps and control systems. My idea is to make better spas and that is all I do. I will never reduce the quality of H**** Spas, in anyway that would cause them to not last or to not out perform all the other spas. We are THE maker of truly high end spas.
There is always going to be a market for the highest quality and state of the art spas. Other companies don’t even fit in the shadow of Haven when it comes to quality.

I jsut wish someone would explain to him that the costco unit being sold isn't the same as HS high end model.
Putting an exact model of their so called "high end" product on the floor of Costco for $2000 less, is like a huge slap in your face.
I mean, that's an outright lie, or just plain stupidity.
-
Drewstar, he knows that and there's no sense in trying to reason with him.
It is very obvious he is very, very concerned as now there is a high quality spa available ON LINE that is going to affect his business. His ranting and raving were the only way he could possibly attract attention to his company and it was all via the internet.
Now, he has some competition in this arena and he knows there is no way he can compete with Costco.
I told someone today about the Costco website as they are wanting a Sovereign but only have $6K to work with. It's nice to be able to refer people in this direction.

Thats a good point term.
I hope that potential customers are thinking they're getting a $8K spa for $5K.

He's back on the "You can't transport full foam spas on their side " rant. Said he sent one of "his" service techs out to look at a "leaky Hotspring". It just so happens that this spa was transported on its end and had multiple leaks on that side. ;D
Well, when his service tech returned, JA quoted that he was chewed out by his service tech for sending him out on such a job, and never to do it again. Wait.... Who's the boss here ??? Sounds to me like he has some insubbordinate employees. Better get a grip on em JA. ;)

I was prospecting a dealer recently and noticed a booklet laying on a table. Turns out it was written by this person and as I scanned it quickly, I was amused at the "what to look for" info and why not to get one from the "dog dish" maker. Did he used to work for HS? Cuz he sure has it in for them.

Everyone knows that those are RETURNED spas.
Oh, wait. Can't use that one again, because someone would wonder why there are so many. Ummmm...
They're under a magic screen that filters out all the sun's harmful rays.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
Probably a good thing they're outside. They might not burn up next time the plant catches fire.

I'm beginning to wonder if he is actually an employee of Watkins as he is so far outta the realm of reason that he must be part of some type of subversive plot to drive customers TO the big manufacturers.

I've got the "Super high end" post saved. IT was just too good to let is slip by.
swear, I could hear the spittle flying from his mouth as he typed his rants.
I bet his wife came by and saw Jim with that crazed look in his eyes typing furiously away and dopped slapped him.
"What the hell are you doing? You're sounding like a drunken 3rd grader, again! Delete that crap and go do some real work!"
Or he realized he was commiting libel.
-
The explanation is now on his "forum".
Well, sort of. A poster asked him DIRECTLY why he deleted the posts, and of course he gets some nonsense answer back. Something to do with Hot Springs salesmen being stupid.
But he's gonna put it all in his book. ::)

Yes you can upgrade the model, or if you'd like, here are some of the HS dealership line...
The Highlife will run equally well on 220 or 110: It comes set up for 110, but can be easily converted. You don't have to buy anything, but the subpanel which all HS dealers have usually saves time and money. Don't want to buy it? No problem. Just run two circuits, GFI protected, to the tub. You can put two GFI breakers in your main panel, or go buy a subpanel and some breakers from the local supply house. The tub heats much faster on 220, not usually an issue since most folks leave the temp set, and the jets remain the same on either voltage.
The Highlife has Two pumps: one jet pump and one circ pump. Not a giant jet pump, but as we all know, it has a diverter so you don't run all the jets at the same time. That is the price paid for the ability to run dual voltages. Tubs with larger pumps may run more jets at the same time, but can only be wired 220.
The heater is 1500 watts on 110 volts and 6000 watts on 220 - again, converting is not a hassle and you don't have to buy anything to do it. And it can be converted either way at any time.
