Title: Plagarism and worse
Post by: Bill_Stevenson on June 27, 2005, 01:56:26 pm
This forum is so good that others are lifting our postings without acknowledging the source.  About a week ago there was a discussion in another thread about a person who is running another forum who might not be at the pinnacle of ethics.  No, it is not Dr. Spa.

Anyway, with the help of my friends here, I found this other site to see for myself what this person is up to.  In addition to a whole lot of rhetoric about how wonderful, knowledgable, ethical and so on he says he is (Shakespeare's "Methinks the man doth protest too much" came to mind), there was quite a bit of confused and blatent misinformation.  No surprise there.

There was also some good information mixed in including posts written by among others - yours truly, lifted from this site and re-posted as his own.  Fascinating.  Dishonesty on all sorts of levels and for the spa neophyte perhaps very difficult to navigate to stay off the rocks.

For those of you who found this and Dr. Spa's forums, count your lucky chickens.  These are both top notch sources of qualified help and I am once again prompted to thank you all for your time and willingness to share good information.

As for that other site, Caveat Emptor!

Regards,

Bill

You gotta admit though Bill,it makes for interesting reading, and provides me with a chuckle on occasion :)

Just saddened to see the .0001% of spa purchasers, actually buying into his brand of Kool-Aid.

He's an attention seeker, within his so called business, and within in mind. Skimming his self written biography, tells me alot of his disfunctionality with people in general, over his lifetime.

To each his/her own,his time is coming soon,my prediction.

I'm proud to say that I have never visited that site and don't intend to.....in much the same way (please pardon if I step on any toes here) that I am proud to have never watched one of those "reality" shows on TV..... :P

I hate to ask but it's torture not knowing what site you are talking about?  Can you PM me if you don't feel it's appropriate to post it here?

Thanks

Gom

Sometimes hope that light will show certain people the way to becoming a "good person" Don't always mean the want or knowledge to become one will be seen through very dark glasses. Old dogs new tricks. We all suffer from it once we reach a certain, well lets just say place in our life.

If I am following what you are saying, the person in question already thinks that they are at the top of the morality heap.  Messiah complex and such.

The address for the site in question had so little merit that I erased it and can't remember it.  Can someone else provide it?

Sorry,

Bill

BTW, Forum Admin, please feel free to delete this post without apology if you'd like (squeak)!

(5 minutes later after testing)

WELL, excuse me! Seems that the forum is set up so that if the particular domain name in question is typed in a URL format, the domain switches to CNN.com!

Pretty DARN sneaky! I like it!

Sorry guys...
