Title: Buttons on auxiliary panel discoloring 2005 HS
Post by: drober30 on February 25, 2006, 06:16:33 pm
I noticed today that the rubber buttons on my auxiliary panel appeared green. I first thought algae but the water chemistry is right.

I have to adjust my PH up as part of my routine but rarely do I adjust Alkalinity or Calcium Hardness after its set although I continue to check them.

The green did not just rub off. It might just be a discoloration of the black rubber. In one spot were I rubbed the blue backlighting started coming through.

Has anybody experienced this?

Also I have read the post regarding the comfort controller failing on some of the HS tubs. I can’t turn off my Moto Message. I will be setting up a warranty call.

No sir, haven't seen that one before.  Dealer should fix you right up.  If not, let me know and I'll call the VP and get you squared away!

Thanks Terminator! I was afraid that the rubber pads would fall under the no warranty after delivery like the pillows do.

I was more afraid of creepy crawlers in my tub.

Maybe they ship a different button to TX, but I have had tons of these go nasty-looking on me. Factory has gladly taken care of every one so far.

The new panels have a hard black button which doesn't do the ugly thing. Call the dealer, have the Aux Panel replaced and you'll be good.

I have the same problem on my aux panel and wondered what the warranty on that part is. Is it 5yrs or is it less??

Thanks Chas!  Is the new hard buttons a standard replacement part or do I have to worry about getting the soft rubber ones again?

how about....you call or contact your dealer and specifically request the newer panel? Let them know that you've heard that it's common for the rubber ones to go to pot, and you'd rather not have to come back for the same issue.....

This has happened to quite a few of our 2005 HS so far. The panel is delaminating and that is what is causing the problem. Besides the panel looking ugly, what is sometimes happening is the tub will turn itself on or off at weird times, like it is possessed. The dealer will fix anyone up and that panel does come with the 5 year warranty. Good Luck!

My HS spa was made in the 3rd quarter of 2005. The button on my aux panel are black. Do I have the new and improved aux panel?

Yuppers, you have the new version.

HotSpring is pretty good about fixing things that come up like this.

I notice all my 2006 models are different as well.

Mine did the same thing when it was about 4 months old. I called the dealer and he told me they had several others with the same problem (he siad it was a bad batch of panels) Service came out and replaced it with a new one and I have had no other issues with the auxiliary panel. I would call service.

My dealer had the same problem. Maybe they never made it to Texas?

My dealer replaced mine while he was replacing a jet.  Never even asked about it.
