Title: iPhone
Post by: Chas on January 21, 2007, 03:58:13 pm
Well, what do you think about the soon-to-be-released iPhone?

I think my Apple stock should be climbing right around June...

I like it. I am right at the end of my current cell contract, so I'm saving up for one.

I think the hand model needs to cut some of his fingernails. :D

Oh yeah about the phone  ::), It looks/sounds really cool but I don't think it's something I'd buy as it's probably out of my budget. :'(
Do you know how much they are?

$499 for the 4GB model and $599 for the 8GB model, with a 2 year contract agreement with Cingular (exclusively).

I like them - well designed, if you watch the video in action it's a great user experience.  That said, they're a little on the pricey side for me, and I'd rather have my 30GB video iPod separate from my phone, but it's personal preference.

Chas, I bet if you wait 6 months or more, the price will go way down, or there will be deals with a new plan to get a rebate on the phone. I agree that it is a cool gadget. I'm myself not much of a gadget person. Dont have an iPod, my phone is just a phone, doesnt have a camera, dont ever send text messages....

Thanks for the quote MattNY. There's no way I'd be able to stomach that much money on a gadget. Like you said it's pp. I'm just not into electronics much. I'm like Anne, my phone just calls people, I don't have an iPOD, and don't have any video game systems.

June? I gotta wait til june? Their stock has been in the toilet for the last week or so, droping about $11 a share (12%).

Personally, I've had a cell phone for around 18 years. As long as I can make and receive calls I be a happy.... Though, reciently, I'm getting into the camera acpect.

I looks like Apple is slowly going to wean itself away from computers and focus more on the gadgets...the gadgets are more profitable. ;)

Apple's agreement with Cingular stipulates:

I'll bet there are more, but those are the biggies that I've read in various blogs.

Cheers

Don't believe ANYTHING until it's actually released.

Well, I got an iPod Nano a couple of months ago. Free. Long story. After a few weeks, I thought I could just about get used to having all my music with me wherever I went. I was working on getting connections to the stereo in my cars, trucks, boat and the SpaudioII system in my showroom and eventually the one I hope to get in my backyard. The cassette adapter isn't very clear, so I was working on direct connections to Aux inputs and such.

But then the spousal unit called and asked me to bring her home a portable CD player. We have four of them sitting in the office at the store. Leftovers from Spaudio systems. But I forgot to bring one home. She needed to work on school right now. I had a bright idea - loan her my shiny new toy and just download her language lessons via iTunes.

Only took a minute to load the CDs and she was off. Saved me from having to drive back down to the store in my PJs. And it worked just great. So great, in fact, that if I ever see my iPod again it will be a miracle.

So, I figure, I need a new one. And I want it to have a wide screen with touch control. And I would love to have video capabilites. Hey, I didn't know how much I needed an iPod until I got one, so I figure the same will most likely be true of the video. And I do spend a bit of time online, so a newfangled portable Internet device running Mac OS X Leopord will come in handy. You know, for emailing on the run or posting a quick part number for the thingy that holds the MotoMassage widgit in place on the new model spa in between customers on a slow day.

And as I said, my existing cellular contract is up and I have had the same cell phone for three years. Three years! I only had to have it repaired once - even though I threw it against the wall twice...

So I'm due.

And as Steve Jobs said, you put the price of a new iPod together with the price of a mid-line cell phone, and you have a new iPhone. But it's way more cool.

Works for me.
