Title: Here's a weird one ...
Post by: Vinny on January 14, 2006, 11:33:32 am
... Why is that I am the only one with weird problems?

Anyway, I went into the tub last night, got out at about 8:30, put in 1 teaspoon (1.5 PPM) and shut the lid.

Was doing my Sat morning ritual of checking and shocking the water at 10:30. PH 7.2 - GREAT!! Chlorine 3PPM - WHAT!!!. Tested it again - the same. Seeing 3 PPM makes me think that I put 2 teaspoons into the tub. But after 12 hours, I should have close to 0 chlorine. I usually check my combined chlorine when my free chlorine is 0 to accurately see how much it is.

My Taylor kit is new, I just recieved it from Doc maybe 2 months ago.

I guess my tub is now starting to pay for itself by generating chlorine - who woulda thought!  ??? ;D

Any ideas?

Vinny

Did you test before or after you added the shock? And, how much of what type of shock did you add?

I tested before shocking and I used MPS.

I guessing that I put a lot more than I thought!  I truely don't remembering putting all that chlorine into the tub. I can't see a problem with the Taylor kit, I use it on a weekly basis. Tub is at 102 - 103, so the chlorine has to disipate due to the heat ... unless it's those foam covers you sell Doc, it keeps the chlorine from off gassing!
