OK, we heard about some of the new changes for the 06' Hotspring line. Let's hear from the rest of our dealers and factory employees about the other brands.
What's new in 06' for Caldera, Marquis, Sundance, Jacuzzi, , D1, Artesian, Coleman, LA Spas, Artic, Catalina, Beachcomber, Hydropool, Calspa, Master, Thermospa, Dynasty (Wmccall), Bullfrog, Emerald, Clearwater, Polar, Saratoga, PDC, Gulf Coast, Pacific, United, Great Lakes, and all others that I left out.

Marquis has many exciting additions for 2006. There are three product lines Marquis offers. The Marquis, Everyday, and Hideaway lines. The Marquis line is the premium line that sets Marquis apart from the rest. The Everyday line has all of the same quality as a Marquis, but less standard features. The Everyday line compares to most other manufacturers premium lines. The Hideaway line has spas that are designed to fit into tight spaces and through standard door ways. In 2006 Marquis is the first in the industry to provide a water management system with ozonator standard on all product lines. Clean water is not an option.
What flavor would you like your KoolAid??

In the Marquis line there are three powerful 2 pump models, the Epic, Reward, and Destiny. These models will now come standard with the in-home wireless spa monitor. To round out the Marquis line is the Quest, which is a 1 pump 110/220 model. Coming standard with water management, therapy controls, colored lighting, floating remotes, synthetic siding (DuraWood), steel reinforced high impact acrylic base (DuraBase), 2 lb thick cover with linear heat seal (DuraCover), 10 button controls, exterior lighting, patented HK40 jets, waterfalls, and a host of other features. The only option is sound on the Marquis line.
The Everyday line consists of the 630, 530, 418, and 315. An Everyday Hot Tub is an excellent choice for a customer who is looking for a great quality product at an attractive price. Everyday Hot Tubs offer the premium quality expected from a Marquis product. There is an Ultimate package upgrade for the Everyday line that gives the customer enhanced options and therapy features. The Ultimate Package includes the innovative PowerShift therapy system and four of Marquis’ patented HK40 jets. These two together provide enhanced control, increased power and focused therapy. The Ultimate Package also offers a soothing Waterfall feature, maintenance free DuraWood exterior, Entryway Light and a DuraCover.
There are two spas in the Hideaway line, the Rendezvous and Retreat. The spa currently called the Hideaway changes its name to the Rendezvous. This small spa has been a Marquis’ giant, placing second on the company’s sales charts. It’s unique size and shape offers great hydrotherapy for two people. For 2006 the Rendezvous will get a Retreat as a brand companion. The Retreat is a brand new 77-inch square shaped spa with room for four people. It’s a smaller-sized spa, with a lower profile, making it perfect for the average-sized family with limited space for their spa. Both Hideaway Hot Tubs will be available with a special Designer Package for enhanced appearance and reduced maintenance. The package includes DuraShell and maintenance free DuraWood.
Marquis just came out with the 2006 SpaBook which covers the product very well. In addition there is a Marquis DVD. It looks to be a very good year for Marquis, the trade shows were a huge sucess and we are on track to sign more than 50 new dealers this year.
Just a couple of things Hideaway King,
Thanks for the Cut & Paste direct from the Marquis Dec 1, 2005 Presss release. Next time, please reference your source and identify it. Personaly, I don't trust anyone who palagerizes, espically if they are trying to sell something. The word sleezey comes to my mind.
Oh, yea. It's also illeagal.

I don't like comericals
I don't like palagerism.
As I said, it's illegal.
I don't like proffesionaly written sales copy posted as an individual's observations. It would be one thng to say "I sell Marquis tubs, and their latest press relases says the following...."
I wish salesfolks would readly identify themselves.
I'm sure Wm Mcall would like to get a few bucks for hosting Marquis comercials.
Just my personal opinon.

I have a 2003 Reward and love it. I'm sorry that Marquis has gone with a lot of bells and whistles. I don't need waterfalls, floating controls, in-house monitoring or 10 button controls and an extra $3000 on the price tag just a good spa. Wasn't the old saying "Marquis is the BMW where many others are the flashy sports cars"
Too bad they changed

Quite honestly after I saw if was over 2 paragraphs, I did not read it. Anyway, who seriously cares about a SpaBook?

I too started to read it and quickly moved on. Maybe it would have been best if Hideaway had stated he was copyining/pasting but I think we could figure that out. I don't think he was really trying to pass it off as his own as it was obviously a Marketing Release so it's really just a "ho hum" post IMO.
-
I have to agree with drewstar. Hideaway's posting was obviously taken from Marquis' marketing dept. Normal people don't start by saying, "Brand X has many exciting additions for 2006."
Not that there's anything wrong with using the material. The problem is that it's not cited.
Hideaway - it's not too late. You can use the modify button! ;D

He is a newbie, and I think he was just trying to answer the post. I guess we could give him a detention

That's right. And particpate as an individual. It's great that there are Marquis trained folks on the board representing thier product and able to help marquis owners and let folks know about thier product.
Just don't spout mindless comercials. It's hard to take someone serious when they do that and I find it insulting. (Did you ever go to a car dealer and ask a question and they toss a pamphlet at you and walk away? Or have them recite word for word the sales pitch. Arrrrgh. )
Hideaway, I hope I didn't disaude you from participating, I do hope I dope slapped you hard enough to put down the pre recorded speech and join us in authentic discourse.
plus, it's illegal to pass someone's else work off as your own.
The peice was proffesionaly crafted as a device to give the reader the most favorable impresion of a certain product. It needs to be cited as such. Not doing so errodes the credibility of any future postings. IMHO.

"Clean water is not an option?"
It should be ::)
Guzz,
Yeah, I looked at that line, too. "Clean water is not an option?" Yeesh!
I checked the press release at Marquis' site but that phrase is not there. Also, the line I first quoted, "Marquis has many exciting additions for 2006" isn't in the press release either though it does have that "marketing hype" flavor to it.
Poetic license on Hideaway's part? Marquis employee? ???

He did say he worked for Marquis in a previous post. I just kind of believe in giving him a chance since he probably thought jumping in to post the new Marquis info was what Gomboman wanted and he thought he was making a contribution. Let's face it, reading that is not going to sell anyone a spa...

Hydropool is doing some neat stuff.
Steve reported it a while back, but I'll throw some of the details in here since it is the theme of the thread:
New branding. New logo.
-New pillow design in some models.
-New model, 675, you'll see it on their new and improved website in about 2 weeks.
http://www.hydropoolhottubs.com/index.html
-Improved door design.
-New insulation system on the entry level series, formally known as Serenity, now known simply as Hydropool.
-New heat recovery system on Hydropool Self Cleaning Tubs
-New lighting options.
There may be more. Dealer conference is next week. I will have more details after that.
-
Hydropool had some on display at the Toronto show
very nice looking tubs with the dual purpose seat better lighting features moulded hand grip instead of the grab bar different stereo set up overall very good curb appeal

So are you in Ontario or another province? I thought Pioneer had the exclusive on HS in Ontario.

Hydropool is doing some neat stuff.
I gotta say it. If anyone remembers my post about the trip to the State Fair of Texas, I really enjoyed my visit to the Hydropool booth. The man working it looked just like Steve Buscemi and he was the only one who didn't feed me a steady line of baloney. I really liked the one spa with a double wide love lounge and wondered if it was popular. The salesman really hurt my self-esteem when he commented "Yeah, you could probably fit in there easy."
I haven't had a fried Twinkie since. :(

HotTubMAn I am in Ontario but the northern part & yes Pioneer has exclusive in Ontario But since we are not in the same part of the province we would be allowed grab a HS dealership If we want it
-
Grab it. We did 21 years ago and have never regretted it. Good luck!
Terminator
-
grab it. why would anyone want a hs dealership?? the tub i tested i had to get up everytime i wanted to adjust the jets or flow and no foot jets. sorry hs fans. dswslp
-
You would want it maybe because they are a multi million dollar marketing machine. When you carry Hot Spring you also get state of the art brainwashing, I mean sales training, you get great showroom materials, and you get sales leads supplied to you by the factory that have about an 18% closing rate. Dont let the fact that the spa may not be comfortable or have enough jets. Its a Hot Spring! People will buy it just for the name. ;)
-

and all this time I thought Terminator was selling so many due to his sales skills!
-
The reason you carry HS with another line is to sell the other line ... when people get sticker shock from a $8,000, 1 pump, 14 jet HS the other brand looks mighty fine!! ;D ;D
-
Even if my hot tub were a "Widget" brand, I'd buy another one tomorrow. 9 years old, looks like new, runs like new, nary the first service call. Original cover even. The only issue I've had is a missing light blue "button" which covers the screw on one of the valves. Pretty darn good track record if ya ask me. But, alas, my tub isn't made by "Widget", it's made by the master brainwasher folks at Hot Spring. ;)

It's a really tough crowd here today.
salesdvl, you forgot to mention the koolaid they are required to drink daily. I find it somewhat amusing that they are indeed programed so well to be "died in the wool, true blue".
I would like to hear from a HS dealer that can actually acknowledge they occasionly loose a sale to another competitor, after all, it happens everyday. The way I hear it even here on this board, they don't have to sell, they just need to be there to write up the orders, sometimes 10 or 12 of them a day.
You know, I think they believe their own stuff so much, they are scratching their heads trying to figure out why there are so many other manufacturers even trying to make a living in this business, muchless the dealers who sell other brands who just ought to know they don't stand a chance if the shopper looks at a HS.
It's kind of like our local Cal Spa dealer a few years ago when they sold 235 spas at a home show and other out of town dealers actually believed there was a hot bed of activity here. Well, they were so good, they are long gone. Now, we hear the truth, when they sold a patio table and 4 chairs and an unbrella, that was 6 spas on the tally board.
OK, I can fell the pot beging to boil and I am going to have to leave my computer off for a day or two, BUT Gomboman did ask about what new in the industry.
Other than higher prices and outrageous freight rates, manufacturers are either trying to improve their products or trying to offer things the consumer seems to be buying elsewhere from competitors.
Many companies where highly resistant to water features, stereo's, TV's and exotic lighting. These features have nothing to do with the quality of the Hot Water experience BUT it does sell spas because the consumers buy them. Now, even HS has them.
My hat is off to Marquis, they have got a winner in the Epic, D-1 has stepped outside of the box to design and develope something unique and different, HS has implemented some interesting improvements and many other manufacturers have refined their products as well to attract the attention of the shopping consumer.
I would like to wish everyone a healty, happy and prosperous new year. Now let's be nice to everybody, especially newbies who have the daring nerve to post on this board in the interest of HOT WATER.
I can feel the heat already. ;D

Hmmmmm, let's see. Maybe, just maybe mind you, Pathfinder and his partners are possibly in business to....dare I even say it....make a PROFIT! I must be a damn dirty capitalist to even think that way!
I am almost ashamed to say that, yes, I make a fairly good living. It pains me to say that I LOVE to come to work every day. I must be an idiot to sell a product that brings me customer after customer based on word-of-mouth and referrals and, in spite of my ineptitude, I can't seem to talk the customer out of wanting to give me money for this danged ol' box of hot water.
It makes me happy that some other companies out there are doing well, it's great for the economy. I love my big ol' slice of pie here in East Texas, but it'd be terrible if I had to eat it all myself. I might just sit back, get content with myself, and quit even trying. It's a lot more fun to share some little bites with the other kids!

salesdvl, you forgot to mention the koolaid they are required to drink daily. I find it somewhat amusing that they are indeed programed so well to be "died in the wool, true blue".
I'm trying to figure this statement out and I'm having a hard time. Just strictly speaking for myself, selling HotSpring Spas has been very, very good for me. The company has ALWAYS treated me and my co-workers like part of the family. From the president of Watkins right down to the worker bees on the factory floor. Obviously, I have a problem and wasn't even aware of it as the kool-aid has taken away my perception of reality.
Are you saying we should dump HotSpring after 21 years of providing quality products to happy and, often, repeat customers? Should we walk away from the thousands of people we've made a long term commitment to and carry another brand of spa (and by that, I mean ANY other brand) that's less marketable than what we now carry? What brand would you have me sell? After all, I truly want to make you and all of the other salespeople I sell against happy. Forget about the customers, what do they know anyway!

It's tough sometimes when you're the industry leader, I admit that. Everyone hates you....well, except the customers (again, who cares about them, right?). Does every spa shopper in the world love HotSpring? Probably not, but that's what makes the world go 'round. If we ever get to the point where we sell EVERY spa to EVERY person, then I'll start my own spa manufacturing company because there'll be money to be made by doing something different. I'm glad that people like different brands of spas. I'm tickled pink that a significant percentage of people really seem to love what I sell. It makes my job even better than it already is. :)

Well the HS dealer I visited up here in Toronto sure thought I should just give him money because he sold HS tubs. Was a real dink and had an arrogant attutude that cost him more than one deal. Since I've had my hot tub two friends have bought. One also bought a Sundance like I did and one bought a Jacuzzi. I warned both about the HS dealer but said they should check it out, maybe talk to a salesman and not the owner. They didn't last as long as I did with them.
I hear there are other poor sales people/owners that sell other manufacturers products, but I ain't never met nobody like this clown. fwiw paul

Hey Term I think HS is a great product from what I hear the training seminars are unbelievable the new national commercial theyve been running on the discovery channel has sure kept my attention. But in my area something as simple as not having a sealed bottom will cost you a sale thanks to the Arctic dealer and I know the bottom of an HS is hard as a rock but people up here get convince very easy that there are insulation eating bees with razor sharp teeth which will build a nest under your spa even on a concrete slab I would really like to see one of the bees ;)

Relax, that's the way the business goes. The Arctic guys will convince some that their bottom is the only way to go, the HS guys will convince customers that no-bypass filtration is the only way to go, the D1 guys will get some on the "lifetime" shell warranty, the Sundance guys will take some based on the bearingless rotating jets, etc., etc., etc. Some customers absolutely will buy based on the salesman convincing them that one particular facet of their spa makes it a slam dunk decision. Other customers absorb all the "you gotta buy ours because our spa has _________" jargon and decide what to buy based on what THEY like, who THEY feel comfortable dealing with and which THEY think is the best made and will hold up best.

Phil
Hardly gives me hope for the human race and literacy in general there Phil. Now what of your jibe about my jibe? I'll feel better if you feel better - but if I won't lower my standards I should not voice them, is that what your jibe implies? (...especially to such an opinionated and self-defensive post in the first place... *yawns*)

I absolutley have no issues with the way other people sell their product. everyone has to make a living I just get a kick out of funny lines like that. Who knows when we pick our spa line I may have to get a quirky line like that just to make the customer laugh to ease tensions. We have an established client base with our other products we just need the right spa to fit our company
-

Just giving you a hard time Hideaway. It struck me and a few others, as regurgitated sales hype. I'd much rather have you contribute in your own words.
Small nit. it wasn't a "few lines" what lines in your post were not copied directly from the release?
I was very hard press to find any lines that weren't copied.

I think it was the pixy dust, Drewstar! I am just going to comment on a conversation that I had with Marquis yesterday. I was having a slight problem with my Dolphin remote and was able to talk with one of the
"big boys" at Marquis, who resolved it for me. From our conversation, I concluded that Marquis has gone with the "bells and whistles", previously discussed, in reaction to market demand. There are folks that really want that remote system and audio system and in order to stay competitive, they have added it to their line. As one of the consumers who bought a bells and whistles spa, I have to say they did it right! Did I really need the fantastic sound system? Did I really need the remote control? Did I really need the in home monitor?
NO but my husband did...so there you have it...Marquis met the market demand by satisfying me and my husband ...a monumental task ;D

Well the HS dealer I visited up here in Toronto sure thought I should just give him money because he sold HS tubs. Was a real dink and had an arrogant attutude that cost him more than one deal.
I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with that guy. I hate it when I'm shopping and have to deal with inept salespeople. Yes, there are a lot of goobers in this industry, as in any.
When I went "shopping" at the State Fair of Texas, I couldn't believe some of the knuckleheads I encountered. The Sundance guy, the Aries guy, the CalSpa guy, the Caldera guy, the Morgan Spa guy, and assorted others were LIARS, pure and simple. And, believe it or not, I've even met a few HotSpring salespeople over the years who I thought were jackasses. I'd even be willing to bet that some people who've visited my store thought I was a "dink". Lord knows, I've had PLENTY of spa shoppers come in that were absolute buttmonkeys. Not everyone clicks with everyone else all the time.
All that being said, most shoppers are a joy to work with. Most of the people that visit my store (around 55% of them) like me and my product enough to buy it. The other 45% may or may not like me and/or my product, and choose to buy somewhere else or not at all. I hate it that there's a possibility they may purchase an inferior product because I didn't do a good enough job pointing out the value of my product, but, you can't win them all. I can live with those percentages and be content. :)

Yes HTM that'd be the place. The shopping and buying experience was excellent and the support from the dealer has been better than we could have hoped for, although aside from a couple of filters starting to collapse (replaced with no questions asked and apologetic about the inconvenience) I've only had dumb little things that I didn't understand. I have the utmost confidence in both the manufacturer and the dealer. It's a great feeling.
Did I read correctly some time back that you're over towards Cobourg?

The shopping and buying experience was excellent and the support from the dealer has been better than we could have hoped for, although aside from a couple of filters starting to collapse (replaced with no questions asked and apologetic about the inconvenience) I've only had dumb little things that I didn't understand. I have the utmost confidence in both the manufacturer and the dealer. It's a great feeling.
Nice to hear. I have heard lots of negative stuff about various hot tub dealers in the Durham region. Nary a negative comment about Alister and his crew. If he had called me back sooner, I may have ended up there when I planned my move to this side of Toronto.
Did I read correctly some time back that you're over towards Cobourg?
Not that far out. I live on the east side of the Oshawa/Whitby border and work on the west side of said border. Did you head out in that direction when you went spa shopping?

HTM, I bet you would have done well there, of course I bet you'll do well where you are now too.
My wife and daughter did a lot of the initial research, gathering info and talking to the dealerships. They went out with a rating sheet of sorts and made notes on the tubs/features, the dealership etc. and then got me involved. I don't remember if they made it in to your place or not. I think one was International or something and they were the gimmicky ones you see at the Ex. Dolphin was another and I think they were pushing Great Lakes. There were some that they didn't bother writing more than things like "place was a mess" or "too pushy, didn't listen". Few people realized that my daughter was the one they needed to sell to, even though she asked most of the more intelligent questions.
We did like the Sunrise tubs at Diplomat and my daughter knew some of the people there as she had worked for a company that sold supplies to dealers and she liked those folks. If we hadn't bought the Sundance we'd have probably bought there if we could have worked on the price a little. We looked at Jacuzzi when we were up in Barrie visiting my sister and Hydropool when we were visiting a buddy and family in Ottawa.
Maybe I'll stop over your way some time near spring. I'll have to start planning a replacement some day as I'll probably try and retire in about 6 years and if we move I'm sure we're better off leaving the hot tub/deck as it is, as a selling feature of the house should we move more out of town. No harm on keeping up with the latest in the indutry while I wait. paul

very small price increase: just covers the ozone!

Oh - wasn't this the actual topic here?
I'm proud to sell HotSpring products - have done so for 20 years.

Thanks for getting it back on track again Chas. What about the new HS Everwood enclosures? Does the cabinet look as good as what Sundance is putting out? Sundance builds the best looking cabinets IMHO.

Some wanted to keep it a secret to disclose only on the sales floor not page 5 and not to competitors. But, what about the TV? ??? ??? ???
