Title: Help! Green water
Post by: drprwnap on December 05, 2005, 05:33:21 pm
Ok, I searched but couldn't find the help I need.  Just got back from a w/e getaway and opened to tug  to find green water.  My daughter shocked on Sunday with MPS.  The water seemes balanced (pH may be a little high).  Should I shock again with di-chlor or just wait a day to see if it clears up?
Thanks.

Balance your pH and give it a chance.  Check it later.  Green water could be alkalinity or copper (mineral) or could be atributed to the shock.

Balance the pH give it a little time, and check it again.

Another common receipe, take two asprin an get back to us tomarrow. ;)

My understanding is that MPS, while a good oxidizer, has no sanitizing properties whatsoever.  If you shock with MPS, you still need to stay on a regular dichlor schedule, which for me is once a day whether I use the tub or not.
