Title: Beachcomber or Jacuzzi
Post by: Pathfinder on November 10, 2005, 04:55:59 pm
I havent posted since sept  but been reading alot
ive narrowed my search down to a Beachcomber 750E
& Jacuzzi 385  My problem is that I cant decide which I like better  Is 13,500 taxes in canadian for the beachcomber too much  or 13900 for the jacuzzi both have a stereo.  Is one more preferable then the other
I want to purchase with in the next couple of weeks

Any opinions  would help me out a lot    Thanks a bunch

Have you sat in or wet tested either of them?

I am not sure about the price in Canadian dollars but I was quoted $9,500 for the 750 in US dollars.  This included everything but the stereo.  I ended up buying the 580 after testing the 580 and the 750.  I would have like to test the 730 but the dealer did not have it on the floor.  I have had my 580 for about 3 months and would highly recommended it.  The tub is looks great, is quiet, has plenty of power and I have not noticed a change in my electric bill.  One thing I don’t like: the diverter valves for the jets seem to be either high or low no in-between

Have you considered not getting the stereo? How much will it affect the price?

Hot tub stereos do not provide the same warranty as the rest of the tub. Beachcomber is 2 years (and is excluded from the extended warranty). This option lists as a $2000-2500 option depending on whether or not it is the TRU BASS edition. Go to the local stero shop and tell them you have $2000 to spend on an outdoor stereo. It will blow away any hot tub stereo!

I have considered it but im not too worried about the price
the 750e also has the perimeter lighting   the difference in price is about 1500 Im one of those people who like gagets
To get the 385 with out the stereo for some reason will take longer

For you MARKS the conversion would be 9500 x 1.25=11,875
which is about the same as i got qouted for the 750

for comparison:  I looked at the J385 and loved it, looked at the Sundance Maxxus and loved it more.  Mine has a stereo with subwoofer, it was part of the package(the Jacuzzi I looked at didn't have the sub and didn't sound near as good)  The price I ended up with was $13700 Cdn incl stereo, cd ozone, and installation with a crane.  The jacuzzi was coming in at $12500 with about 20 minutes of discussion; I'm sure it would have come down a bit more if I stayed with it.  Hope this helps (BTW  I'm in western Canada)

Good luck!

Steve

thanks steve    I may have considered sundance  but when I was looking at the local dealer the demo tub water was quite cloudy  and the tub felt kinda slimy  so it was a turn off

might be silly to ask since its this late in the year..
should i just wait a bit longer to see if I can get an 06 tub since the sales guy for BC said theres a new step design for the protec system   and I was told by my friend that knows a jacuzzi dealer in Manitoba that a J400 tub is supposed to out for 06     Is there any truth to any of this   Anybody ???

Good point on the Protech step.  I purchased the small side step with my tub.  The Protech step is a little high without the small side step.  It was $150 US.  I also got the Turbo option ($300), not needed but it is fun to play with.

By the way, the reason I did not get the 750 is that sitting in the seat next to the lounge (when not using the lounge) the jet hit me in an uncomfortable position.  Being American, I have to admit that the Beachcomber tubs are a beautiful peace of Canadian workmanship.

You're right about the new Protec step design.  Essentially, the two corners are cut off at 45 degrees, creating a "half step" on both sides to allow you to step up to the main platform.  You can see a picture of it if you do a search on this site.  I can't remember who it was, but someone posted a picture of the entire Beachcomber staff after they shaved their heads for charity (I think it was for Katrina relief or something).  In the picture, they're all standing behind this new step.

BTW, I've had my 730 for almost three months now, and it has performed flawlessly.

I have owned my 750 since June of this year and think it is perfect, I do not have the stereo or the garden lights, the price quoted seems right.  PM me if you would like to ask any specific questions, the new step is cool I saw it at the dealership a couple of weeks ago on a 2006 model they had on display.  There are some new colours in 2006 as well, ask your dealer.

Hey Terminator,

Are you two-timing?  If I'm not mistaken, that's you with the shades on in the middle of the Beachcomber staff photo!  Blasphemy!

Tain't me, but I have to give credit where credit is due.  Most of them Dogsledders have some nicely shaped heads.  Not everyone can wear their hair like that and not look like a freak.  The only one who looks kinda strange is wearing the light blue shirt on the second row, offset slightly to the right.  He strikes me as being somewhat of a kook!  He's probably the janitor or something, hopefully not someone with much authority or I would be worried about the company.

Thanks for the 411 raymanator

I talk to my sales guy earlier  and he said Beachcomber
has a few new colours which are of a pearlesque finish
plus the new step  and a completly sealed bottom
it did concern me b4  but my sales guy said they had a membrane which is used for moble homes to put on the bottom at no cost   DO I WAIT???  im stressed

If they cost the same I would wait.  The new step looks cool and the sealed bottom seems like a good idea.  I am jealous.  How long do you have to wait?  Maybe the dealer will give you a deal on this year’s model.  My dealer did not move on the price but I got a swingbrella umbrella and a cover lifter thrown in for free on my spa.   Living in the US southwest desert the umbrella is great in the summer.

well    I think im gonna have to wait till Jan for my new tub
I went to the Jacuzzi dealer in another city this weekend to check out the full line of tubs  and the manager there was exceptional in helping me out  What he did  gives me the decision to wait is  he showed me some sneak peak pics of the new 480 tub  WOW just from the pics im impressed
A much deeper tub new filtration and some new features
he couldnt give me specs yet bc hes not allowed to release yet for a couple weeks.  I hope the Beachcomber dealer has more he can show me  or my decision maybe Jacuzzi

There isn't a sealed bottom on the new tubs, unless the dealer is doing it himself.  If you like the new shiny colours then wait, I like the granite look so mine is beachwood and it looks beautiful.  The step is very cool but my 3 kids have no problem getting into the tub with the single step.  Don't get stressed just get in.

Well, I'm pretty sure for '06 one thing will be different; The Price.

Hey ray It was confirmed by a different dealer who was at the show in Orlando who doesnt sell BC     not that it will make a huge impact on my decision.

Yes there probly will be a price difference but from what i saw of the new jacuzzi pics  for the 480 tub  its completely different  from the 385  its bigger and deeper

Ben Stiller is not funny.  His supporting cast in his movies are hilarious, but he is not funny.  He's a good straight man, that's all.

In "Something About Mary", Matt Dillon, Earl Brown, Keith David, Markie Post, Cameron Diaz, Lee Evans, Jeffrey Tambor, Chris Elliot, the "6-minute ab" serial killer, the old lady with the saggy breastes, the dog, they were all funny.  Brett Favre was even funny in a no-acting, stiff as a board way.  Ben Stiller was not funny.  He never is.

Will Ferrell isn't funny, either.  Neither is Owen Wilson.  His nose is funny.

Christopher Lloyd is funny.  Dave Chappelle is funny, but he's crazy.  John Candy was not funny.  Steve Martin is, but he's a goober.

Not sure if I agree.

That said, his dad is freakin hilarious. Loved him in Seinfeld.

Ben's Dad Jerry Stiller is even more bizarre and funny on "King of Queens".

I love me some Ben Stiller.   :)

Owen Wilson... YUCK!  I always call him the Dell boy, cause the kid who used to do stupid commericals for Dell (before his pot in the park incident) looks just like him to me.  They are both yuck!

I would however, take his brother Luke.  He's yummy.

We just watched Kicking & Screaming with Will Ferrell.  It was awful.  I loved the blue and black tiger striped sweat suit... everything else stunk.

I found Old School amusing. Vince Vaughan stole the show, but Will Farrell's character was good.

From what I've seen, read, & know about Beachcomber, it is a great tub! It has the possiblity for a life time gurantee! The seats are very form fitting, some people don't like them, I do! The stero option should cut back the price anywhere from $600-800 I believe. The awesome thing with Beachcomber is that you can pick what you want on it or not. Garden lights? Outside pump pack? Stero? It's all up to you! Unfortunatly though, you can't add a stero later on if you wanted to, so make the decision now if you really want it or not!

You mean they offer options? Maybe some of the other hot tub manufacturers should think about doing that too! Imagine, having the manufacturer offer you options and building the tub the way you want.

The stereo option is srp $2500 cdn
the 750 without the stereo and the lights is $11,700
the deal i have so far is for 13500 taxes incl with cover, coverlifter spare filter chemical tote, delivery and setup.

but I may wait for the 06 tubs i was told online that Jacuzzi has 2 new tubs 470 & 480 which are supposed to be 44" deep  which for me being over 6feet is really important  Id just like to see if the 06 tubs are worth the money than an 05 which will probly be around for a couple  more months

Yes, we do sell Beachcomber and Marquis...how did you guess!? My parents own their own business and I work with them! I do all of the chemical and counter sales, but of course I know a little bit about hot tubs as well ;). They have been in business for about 15 years, started out as just a hobby but as become our full business! We started out selling Hot Springs & Tiger River. I stand behind Beachcomber because I know what the product is all about and I haven't honestly been able to find a better tub....and no that is not just a sales pitch, I'm not in that department!
