Title: Dealers, what's in your back yard?
Post by: Gomboman on September 22, 2005, 12:16:27 am
I'm curious what spas the Dealers, Sales people, and  repair folks have at their residence.  Can you share with us the Make, Model, and Year of your personal spa at home?

Thanks

Hey, East_Tx,
What the hell is that?  Is it really an inflatable spa with jets??
Who makes it?  What do you think of it?  I know it's a lot of questions but I've never heard or seen anything like it!

It's gotta be a bitch to dig out all the air in the FULLAIR insulation tub, do you have one that is partially filled with air you know just on the outside.

The gentleman that sold it to me said it had a reflective coating inside the vinyl walls that trapped heat in the air space.  He also said leaks were easy to fix with a vinyl patch from an air mattress kit, available anywhere.  He told me to be sure and not patch any of the jets inside the spa.

I have no idea what that is.  I ran across it somewhere in cyberspace.  Thought everyone might get a kick out of it. :)

I actually can't afford a spa, but if I could, I'd do a test soak and find a dealer I'm comfortable with.

I have a 99 HS Sovereign that I gave a guy not quite enough money for. He was happy with the deal and so was I. If your gonna sell soemthing no matter what it is you should do what ever it takes to get one for your self. Even if its old and used. Best thing Ive ever owned. I had the first real converstion in 10 years with my wife a week after we put it in. Trapped in a confined space with no Tv is  excellent marriage therapy.  :P
Ive sold cars and furniture too. My wife says that I pick my jobs by what ever I want to buy. lol

Actually, I'm not the owner.  I manage the Longview, TX store.  I have one sorry, lazy, no-account employee I have to deal with that makes me want to pull my hair out!

See, I've got the key to the store.  When we want to entertain, we use the mood room or the deck and sit in whichever spa will suit our purpose.  At home right now, I've got a 2000 HotSpring Jetsetter but when our new home is finished, I'm putting in a 2006 HotSpring Envoy with Champaigne Opal shell and Espresso Cabinet.

So what was all this "Cant afford one" B.s? you've got one at home, access to anyone you want, and another on order as you build your next home.....okay.

I bet you have one on your yacht too.

Maybe ... but I was hoping to come down with an all expense paid first class acomodations, interview and try to get you to change brands. I have a personal grudge against HS since the local dealer called me an idiot ... I very well might be but he doesn't know me that well to tell for sure! ;)

I figured if that guy can make a living selling spas, my charming personality certainly could.

I'd be mad too if someone besides my wife called me an idiot! >:(  That is poor form and does absolutely nothing constructive.

As far as getting ME to switch brands, I don't know if Artesian's Kool-aid is strong enough to overcome the years of ingestion of Dr. Watkins' Tonic. ;D

If you ever do make it down here, stop by and we'll have a few of these:

And I bet Dr. Watkins' Tonic comes out of a Delta Faucet, probably the one that's pure gold!! ;D

Quite frankly everyone who I know who owns a HS (OK it's only 2 people (a married couple) and they did buy from that saleman) LOVE their spa; have nothing but great things to say. I might have owned a HS or Tiger River IF he was nicer!

Mendo buddy,
I see that you still have a lot to learn about women....

Just making the statement "what I am leaning towards myself for my new Epic" is evidence of that.

What you should say is "I will let you know as soon as my fiance tells me what spa I want!" ;D 8)

Well Gomboman, here's the truth about my spa.

Before I knew what a mineral purifier was, at the age of about 17(4 yrs. ago). My father saw a tent sale out here in jersey and decided he was going to get a spa. He didn't do any homework or bargaining he told me. He liked it and bought it right there. Had it deliverred that weekend. Our deck was already built for the load so no prob. I actually own at my house (I'm still with the 'rents) so I really dont own it per say. I have a Saratoga Lexington. It's a good spa for the price, about 5G's then with everything.  The 2 speed pump on it did go under the warranty and he did have to pay for travel time to fix it.

Nowadays, things are a little different.  I've worked for a pool and spa company in rockland, NY for 3 years now after my buddy offerred me a job with unlimitted cig breaks, and good pay-I couldn't resist.

BUT, if I had any spa to choose for my own liking, and with my discount it might be sooner than later, I would buy the SD Marin, no cover lift, LED lighting in the Azure Pearlescent with coastal cabinet. The Marin I call the sports model-due to its size and matching the hp of an optima. It's a nice spa man. But, regretfully I stopped really using my spa after a while because. I'm selling top of the line all day and have the key for the store (with a mood room) so, why not?

Everyone with a spa has me beat.  I am currently between tubs.  I am not the owner, just the sales guy. Although the hot tub industry has treated me well, I do not currently have a tub for two reasons:
1. My wife and I are paying a substantial portion of our income (19% of gross) to pay for our excesses before I got into this industry.
2. I purchased my first home in April. It is a 30+ year old home. There are many repairs in line ahead of a hot tub. New windows are top priority. Then I will build a lil deck and add a tub.
If nothing else changes, this time next year I will be soaking in the same tub as Steve. It has a deep intense therapy seat for me (6'2" and a bit) and shallow seat with nice therapy for the little woman (5'2").

You know the least that Steve could have done was to give you his old Beachcomber...

I would set up a sales challenge for him and the owner of the store that if you sell a cetain # of units you get one as a sales spiff.

I got a free hot tub in my backyard. It's a 94 or 93 Sovereign, White of course, with ozone. It has the old Sta-Rite pump in it, a door that is so water logged it broke off when the boys went to go get it. The only $$ we have dumped into it is a new light lens, a devcon kit & we needed a new breaker in our box. It has yet to run and be sat in, but I'm hoping soon enough. Even though I'm a dealer & my Beau is a Service Tech, it's the best we can afford right now. I'de send pictures, but it's a sad lil tub. I think it has 6 jets!!! WOOO HOO!!!
