Title: Shopping experiences in STL, MO???
Post by: luigi311 on October 02, 2005, 11:10:44 pm
I was wondering if anyone here has purchased a spa
here in STL and could share their experience both shopping and purchasing here in STL?
I would love to hear about the St Louis hot tub market.
Thanks!

I highly recommend Mirage ;D ;D ;D.......NOT!

You know the places I checked out.  PM if you have any other questions about Arctic.  I should have my spa hopefully in a week or so.  It should get here by the end of this week.  Then the dealer fills it and runs it for 48 hours to insure every thing functions as expected.

I checked every dealer in STL. I wound up going with Aspen spas. I liked the customer service and there approach to sales. I couldn't find a better value for the money any where I looked. That being said, look at every brand you can and wet test. If you have any questions in particular pm me.

I did lots of research before getting my Sundance Maxxus from Mirage.  I've been very satisfied with service and support I have gotten from them.  Also, the price was right... especially since I live in Illinois (no tax)

No tax would be nice!

When I talked with Marquis over in IL, they charged sales tax for MO deliveries.  Personally, I think are pocketing it as furniture stores in IL don't charge sales tax for MO deliveries.  It rubbed me the wrong way.

Glad to hear you had a positive experience at Mirage.

In most states with sales tax, it is generally illegal to physically go into a store, buy something, and not pay sales tax.  Many businesses offer this as a way to entice out of state business, but it does not mean the business did not pay the sales tax.  It just means you paid 6% less.

However, if you placed the order over the phone and the product is being delivered sales tax generally can be omitted.

I would also like to add small businesses that do the orders over the phone, it is recommended for you to make sure the deposit is mailed via the USPS and not paid via credit card.  This is so you can keep the envelope that shows the USPS stamp of where it was mailed.  If the IRS ever audits you, you would be able to show the envelope to the auditor as proof of a mail order purchase and the reason why the consumer did not pay sales tax.  The envelope is used because the IRS cannot question a document stamped by USPS.

In this case I will recommend a spa with a TV to watch Pujols hit the winning homerun in the 7th game of the World Series.  It will be  a nice cool evening with the leaves just starting to change

There is a Marquis dealer in Troy, MO. who is a great guy or go to Baker spas for a Hot Spring.

Good shopping.

I checked out Baker and did not like the moto-massage.
Am really interested to find out about people's experiences at various dealerships in St Louis.

Well if that's the case R&S Pool and Spa had a Coast on their floor with a TV for only $9,000. :o :o

I think I can manage to get out of the tub to watch Pujols bat in HD ;D

StL Rex,

I understand that you had a bad experience at Mirage.  Has anyone else had good or bad experiences shopping for spas in StL?
Thanks!

Well I listened to the middle innings in the spa, having wired some Klipsch AW525's over the weekend.  But got out to watch the 8th and 9th (and to flip to the Rams - ugh).  Nothing like a Pujols homerun in HD ;D.  It sure seemed like even the announcers had written off the Cards, having already annointed Berkman player of the game.   Whoops!  We live for another day.

If you like the Sundance jets but want to avoid Mirage, go to Jacuzzi in Chesterfield Commons.  To me the spas are not all that dissimilar.  Murray is a very nice guy and runs the show.  Kim and Allison are the sales people, but I think Murray has the final say.  I think you will find them much more accomodating.

I really like the Klipsch ....I think value wise you can't beat the Yamahas and build wise its Jamos but for sound I think the Klipsch are tops.....

For the sound, I couldn't turn away $300 for the pair.  Plus I am biased to Klipsch.  My Home Theater is Klipsch, built around a pair of old KG3's that still sound great.  I looked at the bigger Yamaha, Bose (yuck), Infinity Outrigger, Hometec (Best Buy) and Polk45.  Didn't get to demo Jamo.  Even at $300, still spent a lot less than a spa stereo and probably have something much more reliable.  Bought a $5 universal remote and stuck it in a ziplock.  Bought an IR remote extender ($40) and I was in business.

I also have the Kilpsch for my home....The Yamaha's we carry and offer them with a Denon home unit and a simple DVD/CD player we package it with 2 pairs of speakers one for the spa area and the other to put under the eves of the home to get a much nicer out door sound system.....The larger Yamaha's we can offer for less than 150.00 and that is why I am so high on their value. I think they compare very favorably with the Bose for sound (better IMO) but at half the price....I was very impressed with the Kilpsch for sound, I really think they are the best sounding. Jamos sound very good and are built better than any I have seen and are priced more like a Klipsch or Bose.

I had a great experience at Mirage.  I am on my second tub with them and they have done everything I have asked so far.  That has been for the past 9yrs.  That's a good track record by my book.  Have you bought a tub from them?  Because they were highly recommended by a lot of my neighbors and co workers.

Two posts in one day..........sorry I'm not buying it.  The folks at Mirage were evasive on pricing, pushed scratch and dents and emotionally fell apart when I mentioned looking at an Arctic as they lied continuously about the competing brand.  From a conversation with a friend at the home show last week, I could have said Aspen and they would have done the same.  Sorry, I don't care for the way they do business.  Many other dealers in town were great, they were not one.  I have nothing against the brand itself.  It's unfortunate Sundance is stuck with dealer they have in St. Louis.

I would not expect you to "buy it".  I have actual experience with Mirage, I do not deal with hearsay but facts.  Your posting look like you have a big axe to grind with them.  What could they have possibly done to piss you off so much that you bad mouth them this much?  If they were really that bad then why not figure it out or get a hobby?  Companies irritate the crap out of me all the time...you get over it because life is too short.  Yes, I am one of those do gooder accountant types who get tired of ranting and ravings over stupid things.

I have no ax to grind, nor am I dealing in hearsay.  I speak of actual experience with the dealer, opinions of which were requested by another member.  You my friend are the one with the apparent ax to grind based on the content of your extremely limited number of postings.

I'm having a hard time getting into the Blues's games this year.  Maybe it takes time.
I met Jamal Mayers at the Rams game a couple of week ago also.

I'm a big Blues fan.  Listened to them blow the game tonight.........in the Tundra :)  Another buddy and his fiance came over and I put the third period on as we sat in the tub.  I keep thinking they're better than they are.  I hold out hope they'll make the playoffs but realistically, I don't think it's going to happen.
