Title: Start up question
Post by: drprwnap on October 14, 2005, 08:16:48 am
Here's the deal. I took a water sample to my dealer.  He told me what to put in and the steps to do it.  He also said to wait until the water is up to temp. before adding anything.  Is this necessary?  I have to raise the hardness in two doses 4 hrs. apart.  If I have to wait until the water is hot,  I'll go CRAZY.

27 hrs 10 min. to go!!!!!!!!!! :) :D ;D :)

I've always waited for the temps. to increase to maybe over 80 degrees, on the advice of my dealer.  We have pretty cold tap water (50 - 55 degrees, brrrrr), maybe the chemicals dissolve into warmer water better?

Our Alk is really high, so it takes a bit of PH down to get it back in line, and we add it slowly over a couple of days.  But we still use the tub as soon as the water heats up.

Thanks, Brewman.  I'll take your advise and wait until the water is 80-85.

I have had 5 water changes and add the chems as soon as the water is in, my dealer never told me otherwise and he was there for 2 of the fillups.

Balance pH & alk.

Then I would suggest using the liquid calcium hardness increase and metal out initially without worying about slow adjustment.

Shock with mono-persulfate.

Let heat to temp and add cartridges.
