Hey techies!
I service spas in a resort area in the midwest. Many of the home owners are seasonal users. They like to close up the lakehouse in the winter and winterize their spas.
What's the best procedure for winterizing a hot tub?

The easiest way is to drain tub. clean with a half window cleaner and half water mixture. Blow out plumbing lines as much as you can . Take a funnel and add RV Anti Freeze into as many jest and wholes as you can until it will not take any more. Cover and leave till spring.
Of course it is always a good idea to turn off power first... ;D

What if you live in Canada and keep your spa running thru the winter months. Are there any tips and procedures for keeping it running in colder or extreme weather?

drink lots of beer while watching hockey through the window at atleast 104.
Oh yeah and dont forget your tuke, you will need that for optimal running.
Honestly, I have no clue, this will be my first winter, from what I have read here, the best thing to do is do a water change as late as possible. I am holding out until end of november early december, just before the temp drops to much and thats about it.
if your tub is running it should take care of itself, no worries. I cant wait to see the screen read 107. Its going to be so nice.

Antifreeze is an ok way to do it. We have found it a lot easier to just suck out the tub with a wet vac and just tarp the tub. It makes starting the tub up in the spring a lot easier.
