I was thinking about this being the 60th anniversary period of the end of WWII while I was in the hot tub.
I consider myself a history buff especially American History and WWII history.
Like that hot tub tie in?
I remembered 10 years ago during the 50th anniversary period I watched a fictional movie with a strong historic tie in about a Captain of a Canadian Corvette Boat. (I think that is the right term) I was having trouble sleeping one night and caught this movie on the History Channel, but feel asleep before the end. As I mentioned I know quite a bit about WWII, but I have to admit to some amount of American bias to my kjnowledge. That is what intruiged me about that movie. It was told from an entirely Canadian point of view and much of the movie dealt with the 39-41 years before America came into the war.
Anyone have any idea of the name of the movie?

You can find anything on the internet.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035757/
Took me 10 years to find out the movie is called Corvette K-225

I asked hubby if he knew of it, but he said no.
He is the WWII, wait...let me just say War expert in the family.
I had never heard of it, but with a cast like that, it has to be good!!!

My dad was a WWII and Korean Vet - he told us quite a few stories of working under Patton in North Africa.
He received full military honors at his funeral - and it was very emotional when my mom received the flag on behalf of the nation.
Anoter one gone from "The Greatest Generation"

My condolences, I do put a lot of creedence into that "Greatest generation" tag. My father was in the Navy during Korea being only 16 when WWII ended. I was looking at his flag this weekend while visiting Mom.

I found a copy on sale on Ebay and got it. I was suprised Roberth Mitchum had a bit part in it. I think he is in every WWII movie.
