How much should I expect (ballpark) for an electrician to hook me up? What would be "too much" to pay. I know there are variables...just give me your best guess.

You will find big differences in the cost of the electricial work. I live in a rural area outside of KC. Paid $79 for 60 Amp GFCI breaker and box from Lowes and $325 to the electrician. I also got a quote from a city electrician for $550.

It all depends on a few variables: How far is the tub in respect to the breaker panel, Who supplies the parts needed, Is any trenching involved? For a basic hookup you would be looking at 300-500 and if there is trenching involved 500-1000. It all depends. I know a thousand sounds high but a friend of mine got quoted 1100 for his hookup...trenching involved of course. He was 80 feet from the panel. I hooked it up for him at a total cost of 350 that was just the parts cost. I don't know if this helps, but just my 2 cents.

I've been quoted $400 here in Tulsa, no trenching, going through the attic and down the back outside wall.

Mine was $900 Canadian. 120 ft cable, 40 ft trenched and sod put back, panel and breaker.

Mine was $825 US for a 120 foot run. This included the breaker and spa GFCI pannel. I am in Tucson, AZ.

figure around $6.50-7 a foot from the panel to the spa. if its over 100 feet, add a buck. a good disconnect runs about 120 at home depot. cheaper to pick it up your self.

An electrician is about 55 and hour for journey man wages. plus cost of parts. I worked out a deal with my electrician I buy all the parts do all the grunt work and he hooks it up. So It works out to save me 100 bucks. Also the same spa disconect that sells at Home depot for 120 sells at lows for 79. FYI

I paid about $600 for the tub electrical in NJ.
I got quotes up to $850.

I would check with your dealer. many can recommend someone they deal with and can usually vouch for them as well as give you the assurance they have wired a spa before.
I had different quotes but decided to settle on the guy who has worked with the dealer before.
In the end, it will probably come down to the distance they need to run the wires as well as any other issues, but my guess is you will pay between 500-800 including all materials.

As in most anything involving building or home repair ....the costs will always be based on size....sq ft.. or in this case ..... length of the run ...... it does not matter if you are being quoted like this or not but the electrician will most certainly be basing his estimate on this ....

Here in Southern New Jersey, an electrician that we refer to our customers, charges $600 for the first 50 feet and $4.50 for each foot after 50 feet. That does include trenching, 50 amp GFCI Breaker, conduit piping etc. I will say the average price charged by electricians in this area is about $800, with some high priced electricans charging even more. A properly wired spa is very important, it assures the safety of your family. So choose a good electrician, that wires hot tubs on a regular basis.

3 hours of digging and install for 2 guys @ rate of $10 per hour =$60

Try and get a couple bids, that way at least you'll know what the ballpark is. Rates vary by area, how busy the trades are, and by your specific situation.
I'd say anywhere from $300 (suprisingly cheap)
to over $1000 or even $1500, if you need a service upgrade, lots of trenching or other extra work.

I did the work myself, four #6 wires, GFI panel from dealer, conduit and fittings from home depot. Total cost of material $350.00 for about 100' run. If I was billing out my own labor that would be about $750.00 in the Boston area.

i am an electrician in ny. most jobs run 600 to 800 on average considering half is materials and inpection fees. i dont dig either. it is amazing to see the difference accross the country. i wouldnt even drive to your house for 400.

I live in a NYC suburb. I paid about $1100 for a straightforward job, & that was the lowest quote I received. The highest was $2400. The “filing fees” alone ranged from $450 to $200.
From speaking with neighbors, it’s just part of the high cost of living here

My wiring cost was $590.00

Electrician had to drive 60 miles.
Thought that was reasonable cost

It would obviously be based upon where you lived. But in west Michigan the average is $500. Shop around and ask friends with spas who they used. Also any good dealer should have a couple of companies they recommend. Good luck!
