Title: What is the best way to move a hot tub?
Post by: bellst on July 27, 2005, 03:47:17 pm
I'm moving and need to move the hot tub.  Has any one move one before?  Is there someone to hire to move it? What type of truck or trailer should I rent if I move it my self.  It is 6 person hot tub so is four people enough to move it?

Call a local dealer and they will have equipment to move spas.  You should pay around $200-$500 to move a spa.

If you do it yourself get a flat bed trailer, a few friends, and a case of beer.

If your a do it yourself kind of guy. A couple 12 foot nylon straps and 4 guys with good backs that can lift with there legs. Oh and a trailer. You can roll it across some surfaces with lengths of 2" PVC pipe. Or tip it on it's side on a 4 wheel cart. But if your not capable of this stuff or have the means to aquire the equipment needed its a few hundred well spent to have a dealer do it.

One quick thought,  call around.  My dealer will move a tub for a low fee regardless of where it was bought. He is trying to expand his service business. I remember thinking it was a reasonable fee for the work involved. It might have been $75,  but maybe that was a 75 mile radius.
