Title: Chlorine level too high.
Post by: tchamp on June 22, 2005, 11:01:55 am
I am a newbie (Just got my Tiger River Caspian yesterday and already love it). I added to much Chlorine to start it up and was wondering if there is a quick way (other than drain the tub and start over) to bring down the level?

Thanks in advance,
-Tim

How high is it?  When there is too much Dichlor is smells really bad.

It is off of the scale.  :-/ There is no discolor but a stong(er) smell of chlorine.

I remember reading that Hydrogen Peroxide can lower Chlorine levels quickly I'm just not sure what percent or quantity to add. On Dr. Spa's site: www.rhtubs.com, I believe there was a discussion regarding the same problem, do a search in the forums and I'm sure you'll get your answer. While your there check out the FAQ section particularly Northman's and Vermonter's Dichlor regimen. In any event the chlorine levels will come down on their own it just needs time. Good Luck and enjoy your tub.

Take the cover off and run your jets
and blower, if you have one.
The sun will decrease your chlorine level.
You could also add fresh water to dilute.
